🚨 Update on Bitcoin Withdrawals, Fees, and Babylon Points

1) Bitcoin Withdrawals

a) BTC Withdrawals on pSTAKE were scheduled to pause temporarily to facilitate the secure launch of YBTC.
b) Considering recent community feedback and request for more transparency, Withdrawals will continue to be live until further notice.

2) Unstaking Mechanism

a) BTC Unstaking involves a fixed 7-day unbonding period set by Babylon. Additional 3-4 days are required on pSTAKE to batch unbonding requests to save fees.
b) Once a user unstakes their BTC, they will receive BTC directly into their wallet after 10-11 days, without having to perform any additional action.
c) Please note that it may take some time for BTC to be transferred once the “Maturity Date” is hit. This happens because all withdrawals are processed at a single time each day for fee optimization.

3) Fees

a) BTC Unstaking involves several steps (transactions): a) Send a unstake request to Babylon b) Get back BTC from Babylon c) Transfer BTC to user’s wallet.
b) All three transactions require Bitcoin Network fees that are processed from user deposits. Please note that pSTAKE had initially covered all fees associated to staking BTC into Babylon on user’s behalf.
c) By batch optimization of unstaking, pSTAKE was able to save its users significant fees compared to if they had unstaked from Babylon directly.
d) On average, users received ~ 99.125% of their initial BTC deposits back.

4) Babylon Points

a) pSTAKE will aim to optimize for the maximum possible Babylon Points received for BTC staked into Babylon.
b) Babylon Points will be distributed pro rata to all users to ensure fairness and inclusivity.
c) Following Babylon's Cap-3, pSTAKE will update its app UI.
d) This will showcase individual user balance that has been staked into Babylon and corresponding Babylon Points received.

🚨Update on Bitcoin Unstaking

1) The first batch of Withdrawals with “Maturity Date” as 8 Dec 2024 have been sucessfully processed. Users did not have to perform any additional transactions and the fee charged was minimal due to optimization by devs.

2) Withdrawals with “Maturity Date” as 9 Dec 2024 are expected to be processed in the coming hours. Please stay tuned.

3) After taking community feedback, Withdrawal support has been extended for an additional two days. The previous deadline to pause Withdrawals was 9 Dec 2024 in order to securely launch YBTC. This extension factors into account the recent issue faced by users and to handle any pending/missed unstake requests.

Withdrawals will now be paused on 11 Dec 2024. Any unstake requests before that will be successfully processed in 10-11 days as per the protocol unbonding period.

(If you unstake on 10 Dec 2024, you are expected to receive BTC between 20-21 Dec 2024).

🚨Update on the Bitcoin Unstaking and Wallet Connect Issue

The “Authentication Failed” and “Wallet Connect” problem caused due to a database sync issue has now been securely resolved. Here are four key things to keep in mind:

1) Users can now connect any of the supported wallets and unstake their BTC if they wish to do so.

2) Previous unstake requests that were suppsoed to “mature” today will be fully processed by tomorrow (9 Dec). Users won’t have to perform any additional action/transaction. BTC will be received in their respective wallet address directly.

3) New Unstake requests sent on 7 Dec 2024 could not be processed while the functionality was temporarily down. All such users are urged to unstake their BTC again if they wish to do so.

4) pSTAKE contributors are currently evaluating a way to extend support for Withdrawals (previous deadline was 9 dec) to support and handle any pending/missed unstake requests. An official update will be shared in due time.

🚨 Important Bitcoin Unstaking Issue Update:

pSTAKE contributors are aware of an “Authentication Failed” error received by users trying to unstake and withdraw BTC using the Binance Web3 Wallet.

Devs have identified a minor sync issue with the database and server, which is resulting in failing to fetch certain balances and/or wallet connect issues. Please note that all other protocol functions, wallets, and $PSTAKE staking features are working normally.

A secure and smooth User Experience is the biggest priority. Please be ensured that this is expected to be resolved in the coming hours.

BTC Unstaking is live on pSTAKE only until 9 Dec with a temporary pause later to launch YBTC securely. This means that users can perform the unstaking txn before 9 Dec. All unstake requests before that will be processed normally. In the event that the current issue takes longer than expected to fix, Unstaking may be kept live for a an extended time to faciliate all user requests.

Please note that the “Maturity Date” of successful unstake requests on the pSTAKE dashboard signifies when users will receive their BTC. This takes 10-11 days due to a fixed unstaking period put in place by Babylon.

🚨 Important Update: Bitcoin Unstaking and Withdrawals on pSTAKE will be temporarily paused on 9 December 2024 for the $YBTC (pSTAKE-issued Bitcoin LST) launch.

Tl;dr: $BTC withdrawals will be temporarily paused on 9 Dec 2024. YBTC will launch in Dec 2024. YBTC Unstaking (with a new withdrawal logic) is expected to go live again by Feb 2025.

1) Why were BTC Withdrawals enabled only for a limited time?

> Certain product design choices were made to make the withdrawal feature live as soon as possible, in line with community feedback.

> Hence, this feature was built to facilitate manual withdrawals for a limited time.

2) Why are Withdrawals being paused again?

> To facilitate a secure YBTC launch in the coming weeks.

> YBTC will be an ERC-20 token minted natively on the Ethereum Network. The overall Unstaking and Withdrawal mechanism must be updated to include YBTC burning.

> This means that YBTC cannot be launched with the current withdrawal mechanism in place.

> A newly developed Withdrawal logic will be added in a separate upgrade to minimize risk and uphold protocol security.

3) Wen YBTC launch?

> YBTC will be launched in December 2024 (tentatively). All users will receive YBTC 1:1 to their $BTC deposited directly in their wallet.

> An official update regarding the launch timeline will be shared next week.

4) When will YBTC Unstaking be (re)enabled?

> The (re)launch of YBTC Unstaking involves developing a new Withdrawal logic, audits, and testing before it can be shipped to Mainnet.

> While this remains a top priority, a conservative timeline estimation to launch YBTC Unstaking securely is February 2025.

5) Do I have to unstake?

> No, this is only valid for those users that wanted to unstake BTC, given overall market conditions.

> Your Bitcoin deposits in pSTAKE will continue to earn Babylon Points. If you have staked Bitcoin with pSTAKE, you can also stake $PSTAKE to earn pSats that can be converted into $BTC rewards directly.

> With the launch of YBTC, you can earn additional BTCfi yields through Restaking and Liquidity Farming soon.

Here’s everything you need to know about this HUGE change coming to BTCfi for the first time ever 👇🏼

1) What is $PSTAKE staking?

> A brand new way to lock the $PSTAKE token, participate in protocol and community activities, and earn $BTC.

2) What are some terms I should know before getting started?

> Season: 2-week period to lock $PSTAKE tokens.

> pSats: pSTAKE Points received upon staking $PSTAKE that can be converted into $BTC at the end of every Season.

> Staking Cap: Maximum amount of $PSTAKE tokens that can be staked in a particular Season.

3) Where can $PSTAKE be staked?

> All staking and unstaking actions happen on @base and can be executed anytime.

> Before staking, participants need to bridge $PSTAKE tokens to Base using Superbridge 👉🏼 https://blog.pstake.finance/2024/05/16/how-to-bridge-pstake-to-base-chain-user-guide/

4) How are $BTC rewards distributed?

> Rewards start getting accrued as soon as $PSTAKE is staked.

> Rewards are distributed in tokens like $cbBTC or $YBTC every two weeks when a Season ends.

> Participants have to 'Claim' their rewards within 3 days after a Season ends.

5) What happens if I unstake $PSTAKE during a Season?

> Unstaking at any time during a season forfeits all accumulated rewards.

> Multiple Snapshots are taken randomly during a Season.

6) Do I need to stake every time a new Season starts?

> No. If you stake in Season 1, you will automatically remain staked for Season 2 when it starts.

7) How are pSats (rewards) distributed in a Season?

> 80% of pSats go to all users staking $PSTAKE tokens.

> 20% of pSats go to $PSTAKE Stakers that ALSO hold 0.05 $YBTC or more.

8) Are there any extra fees?

> There are no fees for staking $PSTAKE.

> Some network fees are incurred when claiming $cbBTC rewards on Base.

9) Where do Bitcoin Rewards come from?

> Initially, rewards will come from the protocol treasury to bootstrap the $PSTAKE staking use case.

> Over time, rewards will be subsidized by protocol revenue generated by Bitcoin Liquid Staking yields.

🚨 Important Update: Unstaking and Withdrawals of Bitcoin are now live on @pStakeFinance.

Here’s everything you need to know about the unstaking time, associated fees, withdrawal availability, and Babylon Points 👇🏼

Unstaking Time

> BTC unstaking on pSTAKE will take up to 11 days.

> This includes Babylon’s fixed 7-day unstaking period and a 4-day buffer for optimizing fees on the Bitcoin Network.

Associated Fees

> There will be fees charged on three different transactions for unstaking BTC.

> This includes transactions to unstake on Babylon, withdraw BTC from Babylon, and send BTC back to users.

> All fees will be deducted from the user’s withdrawn BTC amount.

Withdrawal Availability

> Certain product design choices were made to make the withdrawal feature live as soon as possible, in line with community feedback.

> This means that Bitcoin Unstaking and Withdrawals will be live on pSTAKE only until the launch of $YBTC (pSTAKE-issued Bitcoin LST).

> To give all users sufficient time to withdraw BTC (should they choose to), the YBTC launch will have to be delayed by some time. More info coming soon.

Babylon Points

> User’s Babylon Points (at the time of withdrawal) will be stored to give them the related rewards once/if Babylon values these points.

> If you withdraw Bitcoin deposited into pSTAKE, there is no guarantee how that affects your accumulated Babylon Points. The handling of these points is entirely dependent on Babylon’s defined mechanism.
