The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) cleared on Wednesday the much-anticipated procurement of Indigenous Pinaka multi barrel rocket-launcher weapons system. Two contracts worth approximately Rs 10,000 crore are expected to be signed by the end of March this year, before the financial year ends, sources in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said.
The approval paves the way for two major contracts worth Rs 6,050 crore to be awarded to the lowest bidder Solar Group, the Nagpur-based private sector ammunition-maker and another contract worth approximately Rs 4,000 crore to the Defence Public Sector Unit, Munitions India Ltd. Both these companies will make two variants of ammunitionโarea denial munition (ADM) and Pinaka MKI enhanced range, sources added.

Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and the Indonesia Coast Guard (Badan Keamanan Laut Republik Indonesia - BAKAMLA) renewed their MoU on Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation for another three years during the 2nd High-Level Meeting (HLM) in Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi on January 27, 2025.
The meeting was led by Director General ICG General Paramesh Sivamani and BAKAMLA Chief Vice Admiral Irvansyah on an official visit to India from January 24-28, 2025.

DRDL recently developed these technologies and demonstrated a cutting-edge Active Cooled Scramjet Combustor ground test for 120 seconds for the first time in India.
The successful ground test marks a crucial milestone in developing next-generation hypersonic missiles.
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has complimented DRDO and the Industry for the successful Scramjet Engine Ground Test. "The achievement marks a crucial milestone in the development of next-generation hypersonic missiles," he said.

In a first the Indian Army got 96 specialist mobility vehicle (SMV) N1200 ATOR all-terrain four wheel drive vehicle under the Make in India initiative from a Chandigarh based company thus making it the first defense force in the world to operationally deploy vehicles of this advanced technology with the ability to go-anywhere be it dense forests, shaky grounds, gravel, peat, marsh, swamps, snow, ice, lake or rivers.

Rs 2,867 crore, for the construction of Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) Plug for DRDO-AIP system & its integration onboard Indian Submarines, and the integration of Electronic Heavy Weight Torpedo (EHWT) onboard the Kalvari-Class submarines. India-China Military disengagement as per latest agreement will be applicable only for Depsang and Demchok and to be completed by Oct 29th. This agreement will not be applicable to other friction zones. Troops from both sides will fall back to positions they held pre-April 2020 and they will patrol areas where they patrolled till April 2020. Regular ground commanders meetings will continue to be held. A particulate strength of troops in the patrols has been identified and inform each other when we are going to patrol to avoid any miscommunication. All temporary infrastructure like sheds or tents and troops will be removed. The two sides will have surveillance over the area. Patrolling points in the Depsang and Demchok will be the points where we had been patrolling traditionally pre-April 2020.

During the Ops, a recruitment module of the newly formed terrorist organization 'Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim' (TLM) was dismantled. This group, believed to be an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was reportedly being operated by a Pakistani terrorist handler known as 'Baba Hamas.'

The Indian Army conducted an integrated fire and manoeuvre training EXERCISE SWAVLAMBAN SHAKTI, from 17-22 October 2024, at the Babina Field Firing Ranges BFFR. Aligned with the Government's initiative of Atmanirbhar Bharat, the exercise focused on testing New Technology Equipment (NTEs) from indigenous manufacturers.
This manoeuvre and live-fire exercise tested over 50 cutting-edge technologies from more than 40 industry partners under battlefield conditions.
Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Southern Command attended the exercise's culmination and appreciated the efforts of the Indian Defence Industry to provide indigenous technological solutions to for the Indian Army.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud has formally proposed Justice Sanjiv Khanna as his successor. In a communication to the Union government, Chief Justice Chandrachud stated that since he is demitting office on November 11, Justice Khanna would be his successor.
