ISRO takes control of GSAT-20 after successful launch by SpaceX

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has taken control of the GSAT-20 satellite after its successful launch by SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket from Florida.

The Master Control Facility in Karnataka reported that the satellite is in good health, with all systems functioning properly.

ISRO is now guiding the satellite to its final geostationary orbit, 36,000 km above Earth.

An Indian Navy diving team saved the life of an injured woman after a speedboat collision in the Mahanadi River near the Bali Yatra maritime trade fair ground in Odisha.

While conducting reconnaissance for Bali Yatra 2024 preparations, the driving team, deployed by Eastern Naval Command observed the accident and promptly intervened.

The injured woman, Nandini Das, was rescued from the water and carried over a kilometre to the nearest police help centre using the buddy carry technique With no ambulance available, the team further transported her to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, in an auto-rickshaw, ensuring she received timely medical care.

For the first time ever in the Indian Navy, sister and brother duo of Commander Prerna Deosthalee and Commander Ishan Deosthalee are commanding two different warships at the same time in the force. Commander Prerna Deosthalee last year became the first ever female officer to be handed over the command of a warship in the Indian Navy. She is presently commanding the fast attack craft INS Trinkat.

Her brother, Commander Ishan Deosthalee has now been given the command of INS Vibhuti which is a Veer- class missile vessel of the Indian Navy. The vessel Vibhuti was part of the steam past given to President Draupadi Murmu off the coast of Goa in the Arabian Sea.
