◾️On February 9, hundreds of believers of the UOC gathered in the churches of the Storozhynets deanery to pray together in their shrines.

After the service, with a solemn procession, Orthodox Christians walked to the city center, where local OCU activists organized a raider meeting.

The faithful of the UOC served a memorial service for the fallen soldiers together. At this time, serial raiders from the OCU held a rally and incited hatred against Christians.

After serving the memorial service, the clergy spoke to the parishioners of the UOC.

The clergy reported that they had sent an official appeal to the US Embassy and Vice President J. De Vance with a request to protect their rights.

The regional administration, which re-registers UOC religious communities in favor of the OCU, is not responsible for the accuracy of the information in the documents submitted for its consideration. This was reported by the head of the Chernivtsi ORA’s culture department, Olena Bodnar, in her comment to “Suspilny”, the UOC Information and Educational Department reports.

According to Bodnar, the decision to change subordination is formalized in the minutes of the parish meeting. At the same time, the head of the regional culture department could not explain how the ORA determines whether these meetings actually took place, and whether they were held by its real members or outsiders.

Instead, Olena Bodnar reported that the regional administration does not check the authenticity of the information in the documents submitted for re-registration at all. According to her comment, the chairman of the meeting at which the decision on the transition is made should be responsible for this.

At the same time, the legality of the powers of the so-called chairman, as well as the legality of the so-called meeting, is also not checked.

“Among our functions are the registration of new religious organizations, changes in canonical subordination and any changes related to the change of the head of the religious organization, the address of registration, etc. That is, what needs to be adjusted. We only register, but do not check,” says Bodnar.

The selectivity with which similar documents of different denominations are considered is also surprising in the explanations of the official. After all, the state body always takes into account only documents on the transition to the OCU, while documents from the UOC community that deny such a transition are not taken into account.

And when re-registering religious communities of the UOC in favor of the OCU, regional military administrations do not use any legal mechanisms to verify the legality of such transitions.

It is surprising how, after such confessions by an official, her leaders from the DESS dare to tell international human rights institutions without appeal about freedom of conscience and other categories fundamental to a democratic society.

The Synodal Department for Social and Humanitarian Affairs continues its active charitable work in supporting those in need in 2025.
The Synodal Department for Social and Humanitarian Affairs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) distributed more than 7,000 food packages in 2024. Active efforts in this direction continue in 2025, according to the UOC Information and Educational Department, citing the Church Helps Telegram channel.
Those in need of assistance are invited by the Social Department staff to fill out a form to receive humanitarian aid packages. Each package includes three types of grains, pasta, canned meat, vegetable oil, sugar, tea, laundry detergent, soap, and shampoo. Recipients receive these supplies during the weekly Saturday distributions.
"Love for one's neighbor is not just in words – it is manifested in our actions. We sincerely thank everyone who supports and helps ease the lives of displaced persons. Although we cannot change everything, together we make their lives a little easier," the Synodal institution stressed.
Recently, more than 90 families of displaced persons have reached out to the Social Department for assistance. All of them will receive the department’s traditional aid from volunteers.
