The death toll from tropical storm Trami that slammed into the Philippines this week has risen to 81, with around 20 other people still missing, due to massive flooding and landslides, authorities said Friday.

Heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds Friday battered coastal areas of the eastern Indian states of Odisha and West Bengal under the impact of severe cyclonic storm Dana.
With wind speed of 100-110 km/ph, the cyclone uprooted trees and snapped power lines in several areas of Odisha and West Bengal. The cyclone impacted normal lives in the affected areas by disrupting some civic services and damaging crops.

Cold weather has hit parts of China, bringing unexpected snowfall to various regions. In Gannan, a section of National Highway 248 was suddenly covered in snow, causing significant disruptions to traffic due to heavy snow accumulation and icy conditions. This is the earliest first snowfall of the year recorded in the region since 1951.

In Bengaluru, schools were closed, and many people worked from home after the city was paralyzed by the heaviest rainfall in the last three decades. A weather station in the northern part of the city recorded 186 millimeters of rain, the highest one-day total since 1997. In October 2024, Bengaluru saw 211.7 millimeters of rain, nearly double the usual amount for this time of year. The city experienced flooded roads, submerged cars, and fallen trees. Around 4,000 homes were affected due to the heavy rains and overflowing lakes, prompting evacuations. Tragically, a construction site collapsed in northern Bengaluru, resulting in the deaths of five workers, with three more trapped under the debris. Thirteen people were rescued.
