Calabria. A mass of cold air has swept through the region, causing a sharp temperature drop and bringing severe thunderstorms, storm surges, hail, and even snow at elevations above 2,600 feet. The north winds range from strong to hurricane-force, with gusts reaching severe storm levels. Blizzard conditions have been reported on the A2 Salerno–Reggio Calabria highway. Torrential rains are hitting the Cosenza area, with rainfall peaking at 2.4 inches, while over 1.4 inches has fallen in the inland areas, where temperatures have dropped to 45°F. Heavy snowfall is blanketing Sila Grande, with snow depths exceeding 20 inches in the highest areas. Strong winds at Crotone Airport have forced the diversion of flights arriving from northern locations.

A heavy snowstorm, accompanied by strong winds, has blanketed much of Bosnia and Herzegovina, leading to major disruptions across the country.

Explosive Eruptions at Sakurajima Volcano. Sakurajima Volcano has experienced explosive eruptions, sending ash clouds approximately 3,000 meters (9,850 feet) above the crater. Volcanic ash has affected the Osumi region, and small volcanic rocks may be carried by winds up to 7 kilometers (4 miles) southeast of the volcano.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) maintains an alert level of 3 (on a scale of 1 to 5) and has restricted access to areas near the volcano's summit. Residents and visitors are advised to stay alert and follow safety guidelines.
