🔆Bio-bitumen

Union minister for road transport and highways inaugurated a 1km stretch of Asia's first highway with a bio-bitumen blended surface.

It is a petroleum-free alternativeto bitumen, or asphalt.
It is designed to lower the carbon footprint of road construction.
It is made using non-petroleum-based renewable resources and can be made from vegetable oils, synthetic polymers, or both, making it a more sustainable model long term.

📍Advantages:
Sustainable: It is generated from renewable materials. This makes it a more environmentally friendly alternative to petroleum-based bitumen, which is derived from limited resources.
Low Carbon Footprint:As it is derived from organic materials that have absorbed carbon dioxide during their development, it often has a lower environmental impact than standard bitumen.
Improved environmental performance:It is less toxic and detrimental to the environment than regular bitumen. It contains fewer heavy metals and other hazardous pollutants

🔆Black Hole

It is a region in space with such strong gravity that nothing, not even light, can escape from it. According to Einstein’s theory of general relativity, a black hole is created when a large mass becomes very compact, bending spacetime. The boundary of no return is called the event horizon.
Types: There are four main types of black holes:
🔸Stellar Black Holes: Formed by collapsing stars.
🔸Intermediate Black Holes: Larger than stellar but smaller than supermassive.
🔸Supermassive Black Holes (SMBH): The largest type, found at the centers of galaxies, like Sagittarius A* in our galaxy.
Micro Black Holes: Very small, hypothetical black holes, proposed by Stephen Hawking in 1971.
Black holes form when a massive star runs out of fuel. Stars shine because of nuclear fusion, which pushes outward against gravity. But when a star exhausts its fuel, this outward pressure stops, and gravity takes over, causing the star to collapse.

🔆Anubhava Mantapa

It was established by Lord Basaveshwara, a 12th-century poet and social reformer from Karnataka.

It's often referred to as one of the earliest forms of parliament in  human history.

This institution was designed as a platform for philosophical discourses and experiential learning, representing early democratic principles.

Contrary to modern democratic institutions, members of this early
parliament were not elected by the people but were chosen or  nominated by the higher authorities of the Mantapa.

Lord Basaveshwara, known for his socio-religious reforms, Vachana literature, and the Lingayat movement, served as the Prime  Minister of the Anubhava Mantapa.

Lord Basaveshwara's life and teachings are documented in the  Basava Purana, a 13th-century text written by Palkuriki Somanatha.

Lord Basaveshwara promoted equality and social justice, challenging the rigid caste system prevalent in India during his time

🔆Caspian Sea

📍In news?
The Caspian Sea has been shrinking since the mid-1990s, but the rate at which it's disappearing has sped up since 2005.

It is the world’s largest inland body of water, covering a total surface area of about 386,400 sq km .
It is located between Asia and Europe.
It lies to the east of the Caucasus Mountains and to the west of the vast steppe of Central Asia.
Bordering countries: It is bordered by Russia and Azerbaijan on the west, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on the north and east, and Iran on the south.
The sea was named for the Kaspi, ancient peoples who once lived on its western shores.

Three major rivers—the Volga, the Ural, and the Terek—empty into the Caspian from the north.
Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, is the largest city on the Caspian. Another important city along the Caspian is Iran’s Nowshahr.
It is the source of most of the world’s caviar.

Rann of Kutch
The Rann of Kutch is a vast salt marsh region straddling the India-Pakistan border, primarily located in Gujarat, India, with a smaller portion extending into Pakistan’s Sindh province. It started forming about 150-200 million years ago.
It is divided into two parts: the Great Rann of Kutch to the north and the Little Rann of Kutch to the southeast.

The Rann of Kutch is a unique ecosystem, bordered by the Thar Desert to the north and the Arabian Sea to the south.
Originally, waters from the Arabian Sea entered this region. Later, geological shifts led to the formation of a landmass that separated the Kutch basin from the sea.
During monsoons, the Little Rann turns into a shallow wetland. About 75 elevated pieces of land turn into islands, called bets by the local Agariya and Maldhari communities.
Historically, the region has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, with influences from the Indus Valley Civilization and various Indian empires like the Maurya and Gupta dynasties.
Human activity
Salt Production: The region is significant for salt production, providing 30% of India’s total salt output.
Threat: Large-scale cattle grazing harms the delicate balance of the ecosystem.
Further, irrigation canals that bring water to the southern rim of the Little Rann add salinity to the soil.

🔆SARTHIE 1.0

Recently, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE), Government of India, and the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) launched the SARTHIE 1.0.

It is an initiative intended to empower disadvantaged communities, including Scheduled Castes (SCs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Senior Citizens, Transgender Persons, Victims of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, persons engaged in the act of Begging, Denotified and Nomadic Tribes and more.
It aligns with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly the goals focused on eradicating poverty, reducing inequality, and promoting social protection policies that ensure greater equality for all.
The collaboration aims to bridge the awareness gap and provide legal assistance to ensure the effective implementation of social welfare programmes.
It offers a synergy between the executive and the judiciary and ensures that social justice is further strengthened.
