Outcomes of COP29.

COP29, held in Azerbaijan, saw several key outcomes:

New Global Climate Finance Goal: A landmark agreement was reached to triple climate finance for developing countries, setting a new target of $300 billion annually by 2035. This significantly increases the previous goal of $100 billion.

Loss and Damage Fund Operationalized: The long-awaited Loss and Damage Fund was fully operationalized, providing a crucial mechanism for assisting developing countries in addressing the irreversible impacts of climate change.

Article 6 of the Paris Agreement Finalized: After years of negotiations, the rules governing international carbon markets under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement were finalized. This paves the way for countries to trade carbon credits and collaborate on emissions reductions more effectively.

Focus on Just Transition: COP29 emphasized the importance of a just transition, ensuring that the shift to a low-carbon economy benefits all, particularly workers and communities impacted by the transition away from fossil fuels.

These outcomes represent significant progress in the global fight against climate change, but further action is urgently needed to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Any body who is too much stressed or confused should read this again and again.....I got all my answers..Try this..
A rare conversation between Krishna & Today's Arjun. Read it loud to family, it's one of the best message I have come across...

1. Arjun :- I can’t find free time. Life has become hectic.
Krishna:- Activity gets you busy. But productivity gets you free.

2. Arjun :- Why has life become complicated now?
Krishna :- Stop analyzing life... It makes it complicated. Just live it.

3. Arjun :- Why are we then constantly unhappy?
Krishna :- Worrying has become your habit. That’s why you are not happy.

4. Arjun :- Why do good people always suffer?
Krishna :- Diamond cannot be polished without friction. Gold cannot be purified without fire. Good people go through trials, but don’t suffer. With that experience their life becomes better, not bitter.

5. Arjun :- You mean to say such experience is useful?
Krishna :- Yes. In every term, Experience is a hard teacher. It gives the test first and the lessons later.

6. Arjun :- Because of so many problems, we don’t know where we are heading…
Krishna:- If you look outside you will not know where you are heading. Look inside. Eyes provide sight. Heart provides the way.

7. Arjun :- Does failure hurt more than moving in the right direction?
Krishna:- Success is a measure as decided by others. Satisfaction is a measure as decided by you.

8. Arjun :- In tough times, how do you stay motivated?
Krishna :- Always look at how far you have come rather than how far you have to go. Always count your blessing, not what you are missing.

9. Arjun :- What surprises you about people?
Krishna :- When they suffer they ask, "why me?" When they prosper, they never ask "Why me?"

10. Arjun :- How can I get the best out of life?
Krishna:- Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear.

11. Arjun :- One last question. Sometimes I feel my prayers are not answered.
Krishna:- There are no unanswered prayers. Keep the faith and drop the fear. Life is a mystery to solve, not a problem to resolve. Trust me. Life is wonderful if you know how to live.

Why Trump and the Federal Reserve could clash in the coming years - Donald Trump’s proposals to cut taxes and impose steep tariffs are a recipe for high inflation, and if inflation does reaccelerate the Fed would need to raise interest rates; Mr. Trump could then shift the blame on the Federal Reserve for not being able to rein in the borrowing costs of Americans

Montelukast: overused and dangerous

Numerous warnings and studies have shown that montelukast can cause severe neuropsychiatric adverse effects, yet it is being widely used and sold without regulation in India.
Montelukast is prescribed for asthma and allergic rhinitis, but studies indicate it is inferior to first-line therapies like inhaled corticosteroids and antihistamines.
In India, there are misconceptions and stigmas about inhalers leading to the preference for oral medications, contributing to the overuse of montelukast.

💊 Orphan Drug 💊

🔹 Definition:
An orphan drug is a pharmaceutical developed specifically to treat rare diseases (or orphan diseases) affecting a small percentage of the population.

🔹 Incentives for Development:
To encourage research and production, governments provide incentives such as:
- Tax credits for clinical trials
- Grant funding
- Market exclusivity for a period (usually 7-10 years)
These benefits help companies offset costs associated with developing treatments for rare diseases.

🔹 Regulation in India:
India’s National Policy for Rare Diseases, 2021 includes provisions to promote orphan drug development, including financial support for patients needing these medicines and incentives for drug manufacturers.

🔹 Examples of Orphan Diseases:
Conditions like cystic fibrosis, Huntington's disease, and certain types of cancers are often treated with orphan drugs.

Alstonia scholaris
·        Even though Cyclone Dana triggered heavy rain in Kolkata, it did bring relief to those with allergies and asthma, as the heavy showers led to chhatim trees (Alstonia scholaris) shedding flowers that have a strong fragrance.
·        Alstonia scholaris, commonly called blackboard tree, scholar tree, milkwood, or devil’s tree in English, is an evergreen tropical tree in the dogbane family (Apocynaceae).
·        It is called ‘Saptaparna’ In India. It has been cited in the Charaka and Sushrutha Samhithas.
·        This tree is widespread across the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and southern China, thriving in tropical and subtropical climates.
·        It grows to a height of 10–20 meters, sometimes reaching up to 40 meters.
·        It has dark grey bark and a crown of simple, whorled leaves arranged in clusters of seven, giving rise to the name “saptaparni” (meaning “seven leaves”).
·        Flowers: Small, fragrant, and greenish-white flowers bloom in clusters during late autumn and early winter.
·        The bark, leaves, and other parts of Alstonia scholaris have been used in traditional medicine for treating respiratory conditions, fever, skin disorders, and digestive issues.
·        The soft, lightweight wood of the blackboard tree was historically used for making writing slates and blackboards, which is how it got the common name “blackboard tree.”
·        IUCN status: Least Concern

The world’s first wooden satellite, built by Japanese researchers, was launched into space on Tuesday, in an early test of using timber in lunar and Mars exploration.

LignoSat, developed by Kyoto University and homebuilder Sumitomo Forestry, will be flown to the International Space Station on a SpaceX mission, and later released into orbit about 400 kilometers (250 miles) above the Earth.

Named after the Latin word for “wood,” the palm-sized LignoSat is tasked to demonstrate the cosmic potential of the renewable material as humans explore living in space.

1st Leading Agricultural State in India — Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh is the largest agricultural state in India. Agriculture has always played a very significant role in the economic development of Uttar Pradesh. It is India's largest producer of several food grains such as wheat, rice, sugarcane, and potatoes. Some of the other major crops produced are pulses, oilseeds, milk, and sugarcane. The fertile Gangetic plains and favorable climate allow for double cropping in most parts of the state, contributing immensely to agricultural production. Rice-wheat is the dominant cropping system practised here. Sugarcane is another important cash crop. Dairy farming and animal husbandry also forms an crucial part of the rural economy. The agricultural sector employs about 80% of the state's workforce. Uttar Pradesh has achieved tremendous growth in food grain production over the past few decades, consolidating its position as India's biggest producer as well as the leading agricultural state

Battle of Walong

Set during the 1962 Sino-Indian War, it occurred at the easternmost tip of Arunachal Pradesh, near the tri-junction of India, China, and Myanmar.
· As Chinese forces launched a full-scale offensive, Indian troops were tasked with defending Walong, the only advanced landing ground in the region, a vital supply route that connected remote border posts.

· After Tawang, Walong was China’s main offensive in the eastern sector during the war.

· The Chinese had overwhelming numbers on their side—an estimated 15,000 soldiers to India’s 2,500, accompanied by superior weaponry and artillery.
· Yet, despite being heavily outnumbered and outgunned, Indian soldiers displayed remarkable resolve.

· The Indian Army units involved included battalions from the Kumaon Regiment, Sikh Regiment, Gorkha Rifles, Assam Rifles, and Dogra Regiment.

· Their tenacity and courage managed to hold back the Chinese advance for nearly three weeks, despite dire shortages of ammunition and supplies.

· The battle resulted in significant losses for India, with around 830 soldiers either killed, wounded, or captured.

· Yet, their defence stands as a powerful symbol of the valour and sacrifice of the Indian Army.

· It went down in history as the only Indian counterattack during the 1962 war.
