For the past few days, I have been getting a common question. That question, when should we start Prelims preparations. There is no single answer to this question. When to start preparing for Prelims depends on your level of preparation.

But this year you have to keep one more thing in mind - the gap between prelims and mains is only 89 days. This period is too short to revise your optional, general studies and practice answer writing.

Before attempting the prelims on 25 May, you have to cover your main syllabus. This is not a new strategy. All the toppers suggest the same thing i.e. covering the mains before the prelims exam. But for many students, the goal is to clear prelims. This is absolutely wrong. Your goal should be to clear all the exam stages in one go and not just clearing prelims. For this you have to focus on mains.

What you can do now -
●Try to cover the optional subject before the prelims
●Write some answers regularly.
● Also focus on prelims too.

If you have any other doubts, feel free to ask.

Enjoy learning 😊

🌀 Brumation: A Must-Know Term for UPSC Prelims 🌀

Every year, UPSC loves to test your knowledge on the unique behaviors of plants and animals. One such important behavior is brumation. 🐍🐢

What is Brumation? 🤔
Brumation is a form of dormancy that many reptiles undergo during colder months. Think of it as the cold-blooded version of hibernation. 🦎 Unlike mammals, reptiles slow down, but in their own unique way.

Who goes into Brumation? 🐢🐍
Reptiles like lizards, tortoises, turtles, frogs, and snakes often brumate to survive harsh conditions.

During Brumation, Reptiles may:

💤 Slow down their movement

🪵 Stay still for extended periods

🔍 Seek out a cozy burrow

🍽 Lose their appetite

💧 Occasionally wake up to drink water

🍴 Survive without food for months

This process is crucial for their survival in the wild, conserving energy until conditions improve. 🌱
