Catherine went to the Steele Maximum Security Prison in Wilmslow, Cheshire, to visit the Department for Mothers and Children (MBU).
The Princess of Wales, patroness of Action for Children, went to prison to emphasize the importance of a strong, loving and consistent relationship between mother and child for the development of a child even in the most difficult conditions.
It will also help women break the vicious cycle of repeat offenders, which has a 20.9% rate among all female offenders in England and Wales.
