The Cricket Fan Version

While writing answers, don’t run after time limit each and every time.

Mains Answer writing includes 3 important pillars (in no particular order)

1. Content
2. Presentation
3. Speed

All these are important. Focus on that particular aspect you want to improve upon.

It is very much like pace bowling in cricket. To be a good pace bowler, you need to be decent at some essential aspects.

1. Pace
2. Swing
3. Line & Length

You cannot be a good bowler by just being fast. At the same time, swing isn't as effective, if you're not adequately quick.

For Ex. Bhuvneshwar kumar when he started out, was a great swing bowler, but lacked pace. In the process of increasing pace, his swing dropped temporarily.

But once he developed control over pace, then gradually he got back his swing.

And you know Swing + Pace is a deadly combo.

So, fast writing isn’t everything for Mains. Develop the thought process too. Revise your notes multiple times. Focus on weak areas.

Quick thinking, proper interlinking and Fast writing, every important aspect should be focused on.

A good mix of the above would be your Pace + Swing + Line & Length Combo.

Unleash the prime Dale Steyn in you. 🔥

Increasing Speed for Mains Answer Writing

Mains Answer writing includes 3 important pillars (in no particular order)

1. Content
2. Presentation
3. Speed

All these 3 aspects are equally important. Therfore, one needs to specifically focus on that aspect we need to improve upon.

In this case, consider speed. To improve speed, one exercise I did was trying to write 10 mark questions in 5 minutes. (as opposed to the 7 min available)

Take 30 minutes, and answer 6 10 markers. Think and quickly write each answer in 5 minutes. Then stretch your limit a little more. Take 30 minutes and write 7 answers.

I agree the quality of content and presentation might drop a bit, but your speed will improve significantly doing this exercise.

And when you later write an answer in 7 minutes, you have enough speed there to generate good content and presentation.

This exercise also helps you not panic in the actual exam where you could face a similar situation in the end. It puts you in a realistic stress situation.

Another important factor is that, the speed we are talking about is not just the speed of writing, but also the speed of thinking.

So, keep revising your notes multiple times. That will help you take less time in recollecting or generating points.

By doing the above, speed wouldn't be a problem going forward. 🙌

Hardwork and Attitude take you far far ahead of where Talent alone can take you.

As someone rightly said, "Hardwork beats Talent, when Talent fails to work hard."

This is the Sociology test copy which I sent for evaluation in this attempt. I wrote it within 3 hours time. Hope it helps you get some insights.

My emphasis has been on writing daily answers from PYQs, and refining them. Because of that and paucity of time, I could attempt only 2-3 full 3 hour mocks. (I'd suggest you to write a few more though)

Setbacks are called so for a reason. That's because they set you up for the big comebacks. 🔥

There can be no light without darkness. There is no great champion who hasn't faced disastrous defeats.

So, the setbacks don't define you. It's what you do after you face them, that defines who are are deep down.

Tried to put together a decent Sociology answer, by satisfying the parameters given in https://t.me/HimaVamshee548/38

Preparing model answers for PYQs can help a lot during the actual exam; Given that many questions repeat from PYQs.

David over Goliath

It's not about having that Hi-fi Technology, or that secret material which someone thinks ensures Success.

It all boils down to how well you use the resources you have.

And that is all that matters. 🙌

Sociology - 10 Point Strategy

Hello Everyone,

In this session, I tried to crisply, yet comprehensively put together everything I've learnt about Sociology in my journey. So basically, my 5 years of learning summed up in about 50 minutes.

I have discussed the Sociology strategy in detail. It has aspects relevant to aspirants at each stage of Sociology Optional prep. The ones just starting out, and also the ones looking to improve marks in Socio.

Thanks to all the friends and mentors who have helped me refine my strategy as and when needed. ❤️

Hope it helps you all. 🙏
