Hi everyone!
This day brings highs of joy for few and troughs for many others. I have seen failures during UPSC preparation and I know that they are awful. Probably one of the toughest ones to process.
I will not say that its fine and you should not be sad, you have all the rights to be sad today. Let yourself process this, give it time. Acceptance comes with renewed energy, soon Inshallah. Hugs for you, please stay strong, sending you prayers and strength.

12 things to do now (not necessarily in the same order)

For interview preparation

1. Download sample DAF and look at the entries asked
2. Brainstorm what'll you write there- Atleast have a rough idea
3. Make online notebooks/ offline booklets- of separate sections of your DAF
4. Download interview transcripts of past years
5. ctrl+f your relevant DAF keywords and note down the dimensions of questions asked
6. See mock interviews of people getting good marks in interview
7. Do some workout/ gym/ running...- if need be!
8. Read two Newspapers + watch interviews/ podcasts of relevant speakers (Eg- S Jaishankar sir)- not masala interviews
9. Visualise yourself giving the interview- how will you introduce yourself etc
10. Practice sharpening non verbal elements of your communications
11. Form opinions on issues of current affairs- not one sided story!!
12. Use chatGPT to form potential questions- Very useful

Don’t let someone dissuade you from your aspirations. It’s common to feel demotivated after listening to such comments coming from a reputed dignitary. Though reforms are long pending, but as it is said “it can be loved, it can be hated, but it can’t be ignored”. This article is an amazing piece summing up your doubts.

I rest my case. Prepare well! Lets meet after the paper.

READ BEFORE ANTHROPOLOGY OPTIONAL MAINS 2024

1. Time Management : Divide time wisely, Give 35 minutes to each 50 marker block and attempt the paper in this fashion.

2. Question selection : Take your time initially to select questions wisely. See question as a block of 50 and evaluate on : “Do I have solid static knowledge of this” “How many marks out of 50 do I actually know in this block”, “Did I have them in my notes” “Do I have relevant case studies, value addition, Diagrams for this” in decreasing order.

3. Avoid Panic : You will see people who will straightaway jump into writing the paper, this may put you in panic, please calm down. Select your questions in 3-5 minutes and then start writing.

4. Stick to your Decisions : Once you have selected certain questions, stop looking at others, DO NOT change now as you will mess up your paper. At times, while writing we feel that we selected the wrong question. Believe me, minimize damage by writing whatever you can and move ahead.

5. After Paper 1: Revise basic facts, case studies, examples and diagrams between papers. Avoid discussion

6. Avoid Euphoria, Celebrate after Exam : Please don’t write optional paper 2 in an euphoria of end of Mains exam. The battle has to be fought till very last minute with all your strength.

7. Expect a Tough Paper : A lot of conceptual and tricky questions are expected. Don’t expect that you will know everything, don't expect many straightforward questions. Use your concepts and attempt.

All the best!

Best wishes to everyone for Mains!
Its a beautiful experience, you will realize your crazy limits of grit, resilience, perseverance and determination. This week will ask you repeatedly “How badly you want to get it” and you will answer it with your best performance.
Take it as it comes, just a usual weekend to spend on a table, around people, in place that you will always remember.
May the best be with you!

Everytime you hear someone tell you something when you are working really hard, this is what will make sense to you. People who are nowhere related to your preparation will give you the highest volume of gyaan. Ignore and keep working.
They don’t know, they will never know.

ANTHROPOLOGY (MAINS 2024)

Sharing my last minute revision notes for scholars/ case studies.

These are the case studies that are not given in the routine books and sources. They are mostly googled and compiled from research articles/ text books/ wikipedia pages/ test series discussion.., all by me!! I made it a point to use as many case studies from this PDF as possible, because I knew not many people will be using this content.

Do make a similar compilation of your own taking reference from this. You can use the content given in my notes as well. They are the case studies which not many people would be using at the moment. Google the scholar names you find in this PDF if you want. I'll try to take a session explaining the individual case studies if I get time.

Lets try to predict some more topics for Essay Mains 2024 : Here they are:

1. The past has no power over the present moment

2. Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.

3. Heard melodies are sweet but those unheard are sweeter

4. The day the power of love overrules the love of power, the world will know peace.

5. One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman

All the best!
