🌹oxidation–reduction or redox reaction is a reaction that involves the transfer of electrons between chemical species (the atoms, ions, or molecules involved in the reaction). Redox reactions are all around us: the burning of fuels, the corrosion of metals, and even the processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration involve oxidation and reduction.

📚During a redox reaction, some species undergo oxidation, or the loss of electrons, while others undergo  reduction, or the gain of electrons. For example, consider the reaction between iron and oxygen to form rust:

👨‍🏫An atom’s oxidation number (or oxidation state) is the imaginary charge that the atom would have if all of the bonds to the atom were completely ionic. Oxidation numbers can be assigned to the atoms in a reaction using the following guidelines:

Rules for Assigning Oxidation Numbers

1,The oxidation number of a free element is always 0. The atoms in He and N2, for example, have oxidation numbers of 0.

2,The oxidation number of a monatomic ion equals the charge of the ion. For example, the oxidation number of Na+ is +1; the oxidation number of N3- is -3.

3,The oxidation number of oxygen in compounds is usually -2. Exceptions include OF2 because F is more electronegative than O, and BaO2, due to the structure of the peroxide ion, which is [O-O]2-.

4,The oxidation number of oxygen in compounds is usually -2. Exceptions include OF2 because F is more electronegative than O, and BaO2, due to the structure of the peroxide ion, which is [O-O]2-.

5,The oxidation number of a group lA in a compound is +1.
The oxidation number of a group llA elements  in a compound is +2.

6,The oxidation number of a group vllA  in a compound is -1, except when that element is combined with one having a higher electronegativity.

7,The oxidation number of Cl is -1 in HCl, but the oxidation number of Cl is +1 in HOCl.

1F. Writing Skills
1F.1. Rearranging Words and Phrases to Make Meaningful Sentence (Word Order)
*Sentence is a group of words that are arranged in correct order of the language rule. Therefore, in order to put words in correct order, we need to know basic English sentence patterns. Also we need to know order of adjective and position of adverb in sentence.
As for English sentence pattern, we have to consider the four types of sentences-- i.e. statement, interrogative, imperative, and exclamatory.
Each of these four types of sentence has distnict or unique structure. Moreover, a single type of sentence has multiple patterns. Let us see one by one as follow.
A. STATEMENT SENTENCE PATTERNS
1. Subject +verb
This pattern is observed in intranstive verb and the simplest sentence structure. It can have two words; however, when either the subject or the verb is in phrase form, the sentence can have multiple words.
Examples
a. Edward laughed.
b. Bob has died.
c. Marry has just come.
d. The naughtiest boy in the class has been laughing.
2. Subject +verb + direct object
This sentence pattern works in a sentence with trantive verb.
Look at the following examples
a. Margaret recalled a memory.
b. President Baiden gave a speech.
c. All the students in the school have signed the pitetion.
d. The cleverest carpenter of the town has been building the guest house nicely.
3. Subject +verb + indirect object +direct object
Some English verbs takes two objects-- i.e. direct and indirect objects. These verbs include give, send, show, lend, tell, teach, offer, buy, bring, write etc. Sentences with these verbs often have two objects. Direct object is noun on which action directly take place. Indirect object is a noun for/ to which the action is taken place.
Examples
a. I gave my sister a birth day present.
b. My parents told me that story.
c. The teacher showed us a nice picture.
d. The young boy has sent his friend a greeting letter.
4. Subject +verb + direct object + preposition +indirect object
Examples
a. My friend has sent a lettervto me.
b. Some parents buy cellphone for thier children.
c. His colleague brought bunch of flowers for him.

5.Subject + verb + complement
This sentence pattern works with linking verbs. Linking verbs include verb to be, sense verb, and some verbs such as remain, grow, turn, prove, feel, stay, look, seem...
Examples
a. The constitution seemed pleasant.
b. All applicantd were BA graduate.
c. The situation remains calm.
d. The flowers look briliant.

6. Subject + verb + direct object + compliment

Examples
a. The girl thinks herself intelligent.
b. Squirrels drove the dog mad.
c. The news made all happy.
(Will be continued)
