With regard to Norris' penalty, the FIA has noted that:
· The penalty was in accordance with the penalty guidelines circulated to the teams on 19 February 2024.
· A double yellow flag infringement is considered a serious compromise of safety, which is why such offences carry such a severe penalty.
With regard to the wing mirror incident:
· Normal practice is for the safety car not to be deployed if there is a small amount of debris, and off the racing line.
· The extensive debris after a car hit the mirror and the punctures that occurred shortly after forced the decision on a safety car.
· A VSC would not have been a solution, as the cars remain spread out and there is not sufficient time for a marshal to clear the debris.
· The FIA constantly reviews its methods and processes and will analyse further the specific scenario, and discuss it with the teams, in order to see whether in the future a different course of action needs to be taken.
Additionally, the FIA has also revealed what happened when the lights on the safety car malfunctioned during the race.
· During the 2nd safety car period, the lights malfunctioned.
· All teams were verbally advised that the SC would be coming in, so the re-start took place in the normal fashion.

Max Verstappen said he had no sympathy for Lando Norris’ frustration over his penalty in yesterday’s United States Grand Prix.
“No, I don’t.” Verstappen said when asked if he sympathised with Norris’ situation.
“I mean, they complain about a lot lately anyway, but it’s very clear in the rules. Outside the white line, you cannot pass. I’ve been done for it as well in the past.”
Verstappen insisted there was no doubt Norris’ move was illegal. “I think it’s quite clear, you can’t overtake outside of the white line,” he said.
“I got done for it also here in, I think, 2017 or whatever it was. So I lost my podium like that. So I just remained calm, tried to do the best I could after that to bring the car to the end because it was not easy with the tyres and the situation that I was in.
"But overall I still really enjoyed that battle that we had.”

🔵 Verstappen is very good in the snaking, judging by the low speed on the straights, the car was loaded with downforce.
⚫️ Russell is faster on the straights, but is almost as fast in the corners.
🔴 Leclerc loses a lot in the first part of the snake and makes a mistake at the exit.
🟠 Norris makes two mistakes in sector three. McLaren is generally quick in the corners, but loses out on the straights due to the big rear wing. The team is trying to achieve greater efficiency by loading the beam wing with a loaded rear wing.
