The Little Bug & the Cow
A little bug was flying over a field, and he was making lots of noise. He landed on one of the cow's big horns. After a short rest, he wanted to fly away. But before leaving, he said, "I am sorry Mr Cow for using your horn as a place to rest. You must be happy now because I'm leaving."

"I don't care," the cow answered. "I didn't even know you were there."

People often think they are more important than they really are.

Some flies saw a jar of honey on a table. It smelled good. They wanted to eat it. They landed on the honey and ate a lot. But the honey was too sticky. Their wings and feet got stuck. They could not fly or walk. They died on the honey.

The moral of the story is: Be careful with pleasure. It might seem nice for a little while, but it could end up causing you a lot of trouble!

A monkey lived on a tree by a river. He ate sweet fruits from the tree. A crocodile came to the river. He saw the monkey and asked for some fruits. The monkey gave him some fruits. They became friends.

The crocodile visited the monkey every day. They talked and played together. The monkey was happy. The crocodile was happy too.

One day, the crocodile took some fruits for his wife. His wife liked the fruits. She said to the crocodile, "These fruits are very sweet. The monkey who eats these fruits must have a sweet heart. I want to eat his heart. Bring him to me."

The crocodile was shocked. He said, "No, he is my friend. I cannot do that." His wife was angry. She said, "If you don't bring me his heart, I will die. You don't love me." The crocodile was sad. He loved his wife. He did not want her to die. He agreed to bring the monkey's heart.

The next day, the crocodile went to the monkey. He said, "Friend, my wife wants to meet you. She wants to thank you for the fruits. Come with me to my house." The monkey agreed. He sat on the crocodile's back. The crocodile swam to his house.

In the middle of the river, the crocodile said, "Friend, I am sorry. I have to tell you something. My wife is sick. She needs to eat your heart to get well. That is why I am taking you to her." The monkey was scared. He said, "Why didn't you tell me before? I left my heart on the tree. Let us go back and get it." The crocodile believed him. He turned back and swam to the tree.

When they reached the tree, the monkey jumped off the crocodile's back. He climbed up the tree. He said, "You are a bad friend. You tried to kill me. You lied to me. I don't want to see you again. Go away." The crocodile realized his mistake. He felt sorry. He said, "Please forgive me. I was foolish. I listened to my wife. I don't want to lose you. You are my true friend." The monkey said, "No, you are not my friend. You are my enemy. Friends don't hurt each other. Friends don't betray each other. You have lost my trust. You have lost my friendship. Goodbye." The crocodile left with a heavy heart. He lost his friend and his fruits. The monkey stayed on the tree. He was safe and happy.

What is a collocation?
A collocation is a group of words that are often used together. These combinations sound natural to native speakers, but students of English have to make a special effort to learn them because they are often difficult to guess. Some combinations just sound 'wrong' to native speakers of English. For example, the adjective 'fast' collocates with 'cars', but not with 'glance.' And we can't say 'I wrote my homework yesterday'; we say 'I did my homework yesterday.'

There was a fox 🦊 who was very hungry. He saw some grapes 🍇 on a vine. He wanted to eat them. He jumped up to get them, but they were too high. He tried many times, but he could not reach them. He was tired and angry 😡. He didn't give up, and he didn't say grapes are sour anyway.😁

He used the stick and got some grapes. The fox was happy 😊.
But they were not sweet, they were sour 🍋. He made a face 😖 and said: "These grapes are not ripe yet. They are not good to eat. I will come back later when they are ripe." He left the grapes and went away.😁

Once upon a time, a big, strong lion 🦁 fell deeply in love with a farmer's daughter. The lion went to the farmer and asked if he could marry her. The farmer was afraid 😨 of the lion but didn't want to say no directly. He thought 🤔 for a while and then had an idea.

He told the lion,"To marry my daughter, you must remove your sharp 🔪 claws and teeth 😬. They can hurt my daughter." The lion, blinded by love 😍, agreed. He pulled out his teeth and cut off his claws. But when he returned to the farmer, ready to marry the daughter 💍, the farmer no longer feared him. Without his teeth and claws, the lion was not strong 💪 or scary anymore.

The farmer then chased the lion away 🏃‍♂️, and the lion was left with nothing 🚫. He could not marry the girl and he had lost his strength 🏋️‍♂️. The story shows us that we must think carefully about changes we make for others, so we do not lose what is important about ourselves.
