CHANGES TO AUSTRALIAN VISA APPLICATION FEES
As of July 1, 2024, the fee for Australian student visas has surged from $710 to $1,600, representing a dramatic 125% increase. This adjustment is part of a broader overhaul affecting multiple visa categories, including skilled, family, and temporary visas. 📈
The increase in student visa fees reflects updated processing costs and government priorities. Other visa categories, such as the Temporary Skill Shortage visa, have seen more modest increases.

The Canadian government has implemented a cap on international student permit applications for the next two years, resulting in a 35% decrease in study permits approved in 2024 compared to the previous year. Provinces with lower increases in international students will experience larger decreases. Renewals and certain student categories are exempt from the cap. The aim is to address housing shortages and maintain the integrity of the immigration system. Changes to eligibility criteria for post-graduation work permits are also introduced. The government will collaborate with provinces, territories, and institutions to create a sustainable plan for international students. Canada remains a popular study destination with affordable tuition fees and post-study work opportunities.
