Open this file on your laptop. Edit the first 30 pages in such a way that you keep only relevant content and remove other sentences. Adjust page margin. Reduce this main content to approx 7-10 pages. Read these pages multiple times ((i.e., revise after every 4-5 days).

Also, in some objective exams, you can get factual questions. For example, how much allocation given to so and so scheme. Prepare them separately, before the exam.

How to Navigate through the file

The file is a big one, around 50 pages. Use the index on the first page and 'Table of Contents' written in the footer yo navigate through it. For instance, if you are at question 8 and want to quickly move to Q1, Click at the 'Table of Contents' in footer to move to Index and then click on Q1, any subpart that you want to move to.

You can dowoad it within the App, for convenience.

How to Utilise it for improving your Content
Since you have written this Test already, you would have already prepared these topics.

Like we always tell you, do not focus on 'marks scored' at this stage. Rather, Understand WHY you lost marks and how to improve your answers.

Marks scored in each answer is a combination of quality of Content and Presentation. For good marks, we have to work on both. If we lag in any of them, then we lose out on precious marks.

Techniques of presentation can be different for different candidates. That's why, you have to practice and evolve the approach that works for you.

If your syllabus is prepared holistically, then you are bound to find your place.

He has given IES Interview, RBI DEPR Interview (and others) in earlier years. That indicates he was close to the final selection. Goes through this time.

Testonomics started the first full-fledged Test Series (Phase-1) for the RBI DEPR 2022 Exam. And everyone who was regular with practice of Mock Tests that year and has persisted, has been selected in one of these jobs by now.

If you are a serious aspirant, identify the gaps in your preparation and look to fill them. Half-Hearted preparation is not useful. It is a common mistake for candidates to choose some and leave other topics from the syllabus while preparing for the exam. If you are appearing for these exams, give it your best attempt.

Holistic preparation and extensive practiceā€¦ thatā€™s what you should plan for. The earlier you start, the better it is for you ! Your energy is highest in the initial few attempts.

For Qualifying the IES exam, you need to a score of 425-450 (from UR category) at written stage. Similarly, if you belong to other categories, you already know your target marks.

To reach there, break down the preparation into following steps :

40% Weight - Syllabus : Cover the syllabus, holistically. All dimensions of all topics listed in the official syllabus.

30% Weight - Multiple Revisions : Revise all topics 5-7 times, with a gap of a few days between any 2 rounds of revision.
- With each round of revision, the time taken to revise the entire paper's syllabus will reduce.

- Ultimately, there will come a time when you are able to revise the entire paper syllabus within 1-2 days. That's the target. Keep revising till you reach that level.

30% Weight - Practice.
Answer writing takes time to grasp and implement. Test Series allows you to take someone else's opinion on where to improve.

šŸ‘‰ When the copies of IES 2025 exam will be evaluated, your result of 2024 has almost no relevance.

- Whether you did not qualify the written cut-off or you reached the Interview stage, the next attempt will be a fresh one.

Keep that in mind and give it your best shot.

Test series helps you identify gaps in your preparation and prompts you to fill them.

When you get back the evaluated copy of any Mock Test, please undertake the following exercise :

1. If you got a question wrong or couldn't attempt, ask yourself why this happened. Was it because you didn't read a particular topic ? Was it because you had missed reading a particular book ? Was it because you had not practiced the PYQs ?

This will help you plug many gaps in your content preparation.

2. Next, if you have answered any question but have scored low marks, ask yourself the reason behind it. This will help you improve your presentation

3. Ask yourself, if you have been able to complete the paper on time. Remember, it is common for candidates to miss completing the papers in final exam, especially GE-1 and Indian Economics.

Hence, you have to build and practice your own tricks / methods to write an answer quickly, that helps you complete the paper on time.

Multiple revisions also help here, since if you remember the content properly, you don't waste precious minutes in thinking during the exam.

Practice of numericals will also help here. It will help you solve numericals quickly in the exam

Before filling it, make a list of all relevant (and good) things that reflect you are a potential 'high quality' employee. And then try to incorporate this information in various columns given.

Completing the biodata satisfactorily will require several iterations. Hence, please begin the process now. Finalise it by Saturday evening.

I know many of you would be extremely disappointed at this stage:

'Mehnat ki thi, par nahi huaā€™

'I gave interview, and was so close. That's making me even more upset'

Almost all aspirants have gone through this phase, including the ones selected this year. It can feel extremely demotivating at first, but the key lies in not losing control over your next attempt.

Understand where you lagged this year and look to fill the gaps. In doing this, at least 70% role is that of a candidate only. You should understand where you are lagging and then find a path to overcome it. You can discuss with anyone you trust.

In next year' list, there will be a few who appeared for interview this year and weren't selected, and a few who didn't even qualify the written stage this year.

Plan your next attempt with a calm mind and aim to do your best.

You can see that UPSC doesn't award too high marks. If you happen to score 45% Marks, then you are the topper.

Hence, when you get back your IES Test Series answer copy, and you have scored less marks, don't think that we are doing stricter checking.

In fact, marks in Mock Tests are not so important. Through marks, we are only trying to indicate where you have scope of improvement. That's where the focus should be at this stage.

Keep improving gradually : with every week, with every month. Improvement won't come suddenly or through a jerk-reaction

Candidates have found this RBI DEPR Test Series to be helpful for almost all exams related to Economics discipline, be it IES, UGC NET or any other exams.

Co-incidentally, starting 2021, there hasnā€™t been a single year when some candidate enrolled in this test series wasnā€™t selected in IES.

Does that imply a causal-relation ? Definitely, No !

In my humble opinion, I would only say that candidates preparing for RBI DEPR Exam utilise the content of this Test Series to prepare for all exams they are appearing for. This Test Series tries to cover the Economics syllabus through intelligently picked MCQs. It is more useful for papers where numericals are asked, such as GE-1 of IES.

We have returned the answer copies of candidates who had submitted the first IES Test. Please check your inbox or spam folder, if not received so far.

Remember, not to judge yourself based on marks scored in any Mock Test, irrespective of whether you've scored high marks or low marks.

From each Mock Test, you should look to extract the following:

1. Another round of revision : Remember, your will be able to recall answers in the final exam only if you have completed, at least, 4-6 rounds of revision. That's why it is so important that you revise properly before attempting the Mock Test.

2. Some learnings on how to improve your answer writing. You can use the comments of the evaluator to improve your content and presentation. If you need any clarification there, please feel free to contact us on telegram.

3. For each answer that you could not attempt or answered incorrectly / poorly, please re-write the answer in your GE-1 Questions notebook immediately after this Test. It will be easier to revise these questions later on.

We will upload the discussion video of the first test after 22 December. Till then, if anyone wants to attempt the Mock Test without availability of hints / solutions, you can do so.

Of course, you can attempt this Mock Test anytime till 30 May šŸ˜Š

Candidates who are through with this first test, should shift your attention to the next Mock Test now.

Work harder over the remaining 6 months.

Indian Economic Service notification will be released on 12 Feb, exactly 2 months from now. The IES 2025 Exam will be held on 20 June, 21 June and 22 June.

The first Mock Test paper is live. You can send the answer scripts anytime till 30 May 2025.

Depending on personal preference, candidates can choose any one of the 2 options :

1. Attempt the Mock Tests as and when they are released. Take feedback and then attempt the next Mock Test.

2. Complete the syllabus first. At least 70%. Then, begin attempting the Mock Tests from February onwards.

Decide which approach you prefer and then follow it. Usually, candidates who are in the initial stages of writing practice tend to prefer the first option, since they get more time to implement the feedback / suggestions.

No matter which approach you follow, our suggestion is that for at least the initial 2-3 tests, do not attempt the next Mock Test till you get back the evaluated answer copy of the previous Mock Test.

PYQs play an important role in IES preparation and Covering them thoroughly at this stage will improve your coverage of the syllabus.

šŸ‘‰ It is a good idea not to leave them for too late and keep covering them topic by topic. If you do not know the answer to any questions, use Google / Youtube search or take help from ChatGPT. If needed, you can skim through all standard books to understand from where that question / topic had been picked by the examiner.

šŸ‘‰ You will get important content from these PYQs and to benefit from them, you will need to revise them multiple times before the exam. So, our suggestion is that you note them down in the notebook you are maintaining for respective papers.

šŸ‘‰ If you keep all your notes / questions at once place, it will be easier to revise later on.

šŸ‘‰ Those Questions from PYQs which you feel are easy and you will be able to solve without much difficulty, try to solve them verbally / mentally. That is, think if you were to write the answer, how will you write the introduction, decide your content, which diagram will you draw, how will you make the presentation stand-out, etc.

Please prepare the topic wise PYQs of respective topics before attempting each Mock Test. In the Mock Tests, you will find, at least, a few questions from PYQs also.

It is a good idea to keep backup options open, especially after the one year of dedicated preparation for your most desired job.

If you look at the past results, you will realise that many candidates have settled in jobs they considered 'second-best'.

šŸ‘‰ Candidates preparing for UPSC CSE with Economics optional must plan to give a serious IES attempt also. And when the notification for RBI DEPR is released, give that also seriously. If you do not have a Master's degree already, then look to enroll in a Master's Programme. If you can't do it in regular mode, then consider the IGNOU option.

šŸ‘‰ Candidates preparing for IES must appear for RBI DEPR with serious preparation. Indeed, in 2023 RBI DEPR final list, there were many candidates who had been preparing seriously only for IES Exam.

šŸ‘‰ If time allows, all RBI DEPR aspirants should look to give IES 2025 seriously. It will also improve your preparation for RBI DEPR Exam.

šŸ‘‰ Other organisations such as SEBI, PFRDA, NaBFID also recruit under Economics discipline. For these exams, apart from preparation Economics syllabus; you will also need a bit of Maths, Logical Reasoning. Try to squeeze in 4-5 hours during 10-15 days, and prepare the relevant topics from any CAT book (e.g., Quantum CAT by Sarvesh Verma). So that whenever the exam notification is released, you can revise quickly and appear for the exam.

šŸ‘‰ If you deem fit as per your preference and circumstances, then keep applying for RAship / Young Professional/ other job opportunities you come across. If needed, you can upskill yourself (learn a software / programming language / data visualisation tool such as Power BI, online).

After you get any of these jobs, you can continue to work towards your dream job.

We will hold an (online) Open Session in the second-half of November and try to answer your queries. This session will work like an Orientation Class for RBI DEPR 2025 Course and Test Series.

You will be provided a link beforehand (on the telegram channel), to submit your queries regarding approach to these exams and we will try to answer them during the session.

In the last 3.5 years of being in this space, this will be our first-ever open session. We are not sure if we will have any more such session before the 2025 exam. Hence, if you are looking to prepare for the 2025 attempt with us, then kindly make it convenient to attend this session.

Of course, just this much info given in this question would NOT have been enough to answer today's question on choosing between linear and quadratic trend ; but still, we have always tried to emphasis that you should stay mindful of interpretation based questions

Last year, exam was held on 02 September and result was declared on 20 October. This year, IBPS has been delaying all results... so don't expect before December-end. Who knows, they might even take it to next year !

Try to get back on track soon and utilise these days efficiently !

However, thinking and answering such questions in the exam pressure is a different task altogether.

Hence, we understand that candidates would have faced challenge in writing answers to at least a few questions.

But the same would have happened for almost all candidates. Ultimately, selection aap me se hi kuch ka hona hai

And also, RBI me Interview marks have a high Dispersion. Who knows, even if you just qualify the Phase-2 and get exceptionally high marks at Interview, you may easily make it to the final list !

Therefore, at this stage, the best strategy would be to not to overthink.

Take a small break and then try to get back to doing something productive. If you are sure that you want to appear for IES / UPSC CSE next year, you can get back to its preparation.

Or, if you are expecting RBI DEPR Interview call, you can begin Interview preparation. Remember, this year, vacancies in RBI Generalist are far fewer ; hence, we are unlikely to get so much time for interview preparation, like last year.

Or, whatever else qualifies as 'productive' utilisation, given your circumstances and preference.

Now, you might argue : Economic Survey me bahot si reports ka naam hota h. We can't read all those publications !

Fair enough. We are just saying that if a document has been so explitcly quoted in Economic Survey, then the question cannot be called random !

This is from our Phase-2 Test Series.

Now, we will be honest here. To have the same function in actual Phase-2 exam was merely a fluke ! There is no way we could have predicted that.

However, in the hindsight, we a see a pattern : While forming the Phase-2 Test Series question, we picked the very first question from the long list of numericals present in my undergraduation notes I had made in 2012 !

Examiner bhi lazy tha ; even he may have picked the very first question from the book !
