LSE bans 7 students from campus over a Palestine Protest

On 7th July 2024, students protested LSE’s ties to arms manufacturing in Gaza’s genocide.

And how did LSE respond?

They compared their protest to terrorism with the 7/7 London attacks and made baseless claims about the protest as an ''intimidating'' mob so they banned 7 students from campus.

These students, now called the LSE7, are standing their ground, launching a campaign to challenge disciplinary actions and expose the university’s Islamophobic behaviour.

This week, Abdelhakim Sefrioui—a 65-year-old Imam, community leader, and fierce advocate for Palestinian rights—is facing trial after four years in pre trial detention!

Why? Because he challenged state Islamophobia and sought to mediate after a professor displayed offensive images of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his classroom.

CAGE International will be closely monitoring his trial.

The LSE banned 7 students from campus and compared their Palestine protest to the 7/7 London bombings!

One of the #LSE7 speaks for the first time, exposing LSE’s islamophobia and their complicity and investment in the genocide in Gaza.

LSE became the first UK university to take students and staff to court to forcibly evict them from campus, marking a new level of campus criminalisation of Palestine activism.

Today marks one year since one of the largest ever pro-Palestine protests in the UK.

It’s also one year since Marieha Hussain held the infamous placard depicting Rishi Sunak and Suella Braverman as a coconut.

Despite Media and Police harassment and a difficult trial, she is ready to do it all again for Palestine.

November 9th marks the 4 years since ‘Operation Luxor’.

The largest police raid in Austria since WWII, targeting 70 Muslim homes and institutions.

Muslim community leaders, imams, academics, and even children were shaken and awakened at gunpoint.

The raid amounted to ZERO convictions.

Now, a new phase of Operation Luxor, 2.0, has emerged as the survivors are targeted by other non-terrorism-related investigations, as a form of state led harassment.

The survivors continue to fight back against the state-led Islamophobia.

And we remain committed to defending their rights and fighting for justice.

Palestine Action is at the cutting edge of the pro Palestine movement in the UK.

Their effective direct actions have single handedly cost Israel's biggest arms manufacturer, Elbit Systems, tens of millions of pounds and led to 10 large businesses to cut ties with Elbit.

There is a concerted effort to shut them down because of it.

Today, they have 16 political prisoners.

They continue to put their liberty on the line for the liberation of Palestine.

Abdul Rahim Rabbani, who endured 18 years of unlawful detention at Guantanamo Bay passed away today following a stomach illness.

He spent over two decades without charge or trial in Guantanamo alongside his brother, Badr.

CAGE was able to assist them both after their release but their struggles have been too many to list.

Abdul Rahim was released to Pakistan with a lack of social care and rehabilitation services and was forced to rely on private individuals.

We call for all those who are released from Guantanamo Bay to be provided with medical care and provision to reintegrate into societies they are sent to.

Moazzam Begg, former Guantanamo Bay prisoner and CAGE International Senior Director said: “It is always painful to hear of the passing of brothers who’d endured so much but we remain confident in the knowledge:
وَأَنَّ اللَّهَ لا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

The reward of the believer is never lost with Allah.“

May Allah have mercy on our brother and grant him the highest level of Jannah.

Since 1990s, the US led War on Islam (the Global War of Terror) fuelled Islamophobic laws worldwide, eroding civil liberties domestically and justified occupations and wars abroad.

Islamophobia became woven into political structures, dehumanising Muslims at a global scale.

Today, this led us to the manufacturing of consent for the genocide in Gaza!

And across the world, the infrastructure of authoritarian laws built of the back of exploiting fears and predjusdices against Muslims have enabled the wide scale repression of the pro Palestine movement!

Now, more than ever, we must dismantle the War on Terror and unite to end Islamophobia, end genocide and stand for Justice.

Yahya Sinwar has been killed in a battle with Zionist soldiers whilst defending his besieged people from the genocidal Zionist forces. Resisting until his final breath.
