Happy lunar new year! Now itβs officially the year of snake! πππ
Russia is half in Europe and half in Asia, so we have both European and Asian traditions.
So, from Asia we have taken the tradition of celebrating the new year according to the Eastern calendar.
According to this calendar, each year has its own animal. There are only 12 of them, and every 12 years the animals repeat themselves.

We will take a walk around the center of Moscow and see how the city is decorated and what events are taking place there now.

Baptism in Russia: Dipping into an ice hole live!
I'm taking you for a walk in Moscow.

We will go to the lake together and watch how the Russian people plunge into the ice hole, observing the rite of Baptism. We do this on the night of January 18th to 19th.
Epiphany, is one of the most solemn holidays of the Orthodox Church, celebrated on January 19.
It was installed in memory of the event described by the apostles in all four Gospels β the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River by John the Baptist.
During his celebration, the Epiphany occurred: the voice of God the Father rang out from heaven and called Jesus Christ his son, and the Holy Spirit descended on the Lord in the form of a dove.

In Moscow, they created Red Square out of ice. βοΈβοΈ
This construction is located on the Victory Square.
Here you can see the Kremlin wall, St. Basil's Cathedral. And for children, they made ice slides from which they slide on sleds.
Entrance to the park costs 700 rubles.
