A bunch of useful explanations
… are ready for you in the comments under this post.

Find out how to pronounce

conscientious

luxurious vs luxury

months

and of course … LITERALLY.

I’m also going to share a word that EVERY SINGLE STUDENT OF MINE dislikes, or outright hates.

This is the word … ITINERARY.

😱 It turns out it’s so hard to pronounce for so many people. Ironically, it is a very, very common word in English.

I broke it down for you as well.

Here’s the next gift from the pronunciation calendar, and this time it’s very personal.

🧐 What is the word or a phrase you’d like to finally be able to pronounce correctly in the new year?

1️⃣ Leave your word in the comments below;

2️⃣ I’ll respond with a short voice message explaining the best way to pronounce it

Is it “literally? “Comfortable”? “Matter”? “Deoxyribonucleic”?

Anything you’re struggling with — let me know and get a brief breakdown from me.

I’m really curious

Here are two results of the accent test above. The first screenshot is from my American friend, and the second screenshot is mine.

According to the app, he’s only 91% native (even though he was born and raised in the US), and there are some bits of Spanish and Chinese, which has nothing to do with reality, of course. This is just the AI hallucinating a bit.

😎 So, no worries if the Accent Oracle thinks you’re Chinese even if you aren’t.

In my case, it does identify me as a native speaker, with a lesser certainty though. This is because, as a rule, for adult speakers it is most of the time impossible to reach a 100% native pronunciation, and the reasons for it are purely physiological.

And here I have a question to you: does it even make sense to try to reach a 100% American or British accent to you? Let me know what you think in the comments ⬇️

THIS AI CAN GUESS YOUR ACCENT

Christmas is coming, so are the gifts from your accent coach! This time it’s something I came across the other day and decided to share with you all:

There’s a free AI tool that can identify where you’re from in less than a minute. All you need to do is to read a short paragraph.

❗️While there are some inaccuracies (because it’s still a machine, not a human evaluator) it’s most of the time pretty spot on.

🔥 Try it out there and let me know in the comments if it guessed your accent correctly!

Share your screenshots below. I’ve done it a thousand times now, and I’ll share my results tomorrow ⬇️

It’s a pathway that takes you straight to mastering your pronunciation

The diagnostics that I offer to my new students is like a short trip

1️⃣ The First Step: Words & Phrases – Think of it as warming up. You’ll read a list of words and phrases, and together we’ll zoom in on those tricky vowels and consonants, finding where you shine and where we need to tweak.

2️⃣ The Next Stretch: Text Reading – Now the road gets a bit more dynamic. You’ll read a short text, and we’ll uncover how your rhythm flows, how well you link words together, and where the natural music of the language might be missing.

3️⃣ The Final Stop: Spontaneous Speech – This is where you let loose! A quick, free-speaking task helps us see how you sound when you’re just... you. Real-life speaking, real insights.

🔥By the end of this journey, you’ll have a clear map of where you stand and a fully personalized study plan to guide your next steps with confidence.

🧐 How KIDS become DICKHEADS, or accents can be fun. Let’s break it down ⬇️

The juiciest part of this conversation was that the host thought the man said “spend less time with the kids”, which sounded like a very weird piece of advice!

❗️What the man actually said was “spend less time with dickheads”.

It’s just “dickeahds” and “the kids” in some accents — Kiwi, Cockney etc. — might sound very much alike.

💡Also most of you heard “least” instead of “less”, and there’s an explanation for that, coming right up!

😭 Understanding accents can be tough. Even for native speakers.

Watch this hilarious interaction between a British English speaker (the host) and a guest from New Zealand:

▪️When the guest starts talking about the advice he’d give to his younger self, the host mis-recognizes one of the words he is saying.

Can you hear / guess what word the guest is ACTUALLY saying?

😱 This sentence is used by actors and can help you get into American Accent mode.

How many times have you asked Sam whether or not his daughter’s learning disorder was caused by a genetic abnormality?

Of course, people in all these professions might need some accent reduction — depending on their particular goals and professional and personal contexts.

🔥 But above all, actors would need it the most, and it is them we can learn from a lot.

Today I wanted to share a quick pronunciation tip from Hugh Jackman — an Aussie frequently having to mimic an American accent.

Hi there! I’ve prepared something ⚡️super useful⚡️ for y’all this week.

But first, let me ask you a question.

Not every non-native English speaker thinks it necessary to work on their pronunciation. For some people, though, accent work is absolutely unavoidable.

Who do you think SHOULD work on their pronunciation?

🤔 So, can you improve your pronunciation without moving to an English speaking country?

of course you can
but there’s a bit of a catch

First, some statistics:

▪️ 89% of my students are non-native English speakers who live and work in the US. Some of them have lived there for more than 10 years.

And guess what — they still need accent coaching.

Improved pronunciation can’t just descend upon you like a blessing.

You can’t absorb it by just actively listening to the people around you. Adults don’t process the language the same way kids do.

👉🏻 So, moving abroad doesn’t guarantee accent improvement. Your listening skills might get better, but for pronunciation and speaking skills in general you need to do something else.

And here’s where the catch comes in.

Will tell you about it tomorrow, stay tuned ☺️
