Okay

Here are a couple of questions I compiled when they say “do you have any questions”

Ill send a zoom link for Saturday

Questions to ask PD:

1 How can we as residents help you achieve what you plan to see in the program in the next few years?
2 Potential changes in curriculum or program environment based on resident feedback - research track, medical education track, workshops?
3 As a leader in the field, what do you think are the challenges facing neurologists today and how does Larkin help residents prepare for those challenges?
4 So I like to learn something from each person I meet in the chance that I do not see them again: what piece of advice did you wish you received at my stage of training?
5 Planning on having fellowships in the future?
6 You obviously have a lot of experience and expertise in assisting in preparation for board exams. What do you think are some of the biggest determinants in doing well on boards?
7 Any last tips?

Questions to ask faculty:

1 What is your favorite aspect of working in a community hospital versus a major medical center?
2 What would make an ideal resident for you?
3 What aspects of the program did you want to see an improvement in and how can we as residents help?
4 What responsibilities would you give to residents who want to participate in clinical trials?
5 How would you address and help students who are having trouble keeping up with the curriculum or the pace?
6 Whats your favorite aspect of working here?
7 Did you have any role models in your career and what was the best advice you got from them?
8 What kind of priorities should we focus on during the first 3 months here?

Questions to ask chief residents?

1 What is one thing you wish you knew at this stage?
2 How do you keep your team motivated amidst obstacles?
3 How often do the chiefs provide feedback to the interns or the senior residents?
4 Who do you look up to for motivation and inspiration on leadership?
5 Is there opportunity to help out in clinical trials?
6 What is your ideal colleague/what do you expect from them?

Questions to ask residents?

1 What kind of evaluation and feedback do you get from your seniors and faculty?
2 How friendly are the faculty to answer questions not about neurology? What other resources do you have here for wellness?
3 Do you get mentoring for research/clinical trials or are you expected to find your own?
4 What’s a typical day like for you?
5 How were the holidays?
6 What do you guys like to do in NB on your time off?
7 Do you guys get funding to attend national conferences?
8 How do you tell when we have autonomy and when we need to call up like chiefs or something in the middle of the night

Step 2 CK write up .
The step two exam is one of the most challenging experiences for me specially I had to do it after leaving Sudan from the war then relocating to many places. But at the end of the day with God grace, my family support and dedication it came true . I hope this write up helps someone specially those who have the same experience as mine and still trying to stay consistent.
YOG: 2022
Step 1 : Pass April 6th 2022
Step 2 :267 September 6th 2023
Study Duration :11 month
Resources:
-First run of offline U world which was very focused, then second run of online U world 80% done / 86% correct. The key in the second run was the flashcards that I created while I was studying then I reviewed them with my friend in the last 10 days before the exam ,it helps in recalling the charts and tables and all the important informations.
-boards and beyond step 2 ( although many people have an otherwise opinion about board and beyond for the step 2 CK but they helped me a lot in recalling many vital informations and concepts specially Cardiology, renal, respiratory OBGYN* and pediatrics.
- CMS forms I did most of them with my study group which is very vital for the step 2 CK We started very early the CMS forms.
- NBME : I studied NBME 11/12/9 with my study group and I did 14 as an assessment:254 I believe doing NBME during the last 4 weeks before the exam is vitals but it should be used for practice more than just assessment tools.
- Amboss : I used it frequently with my study group during the preparations along with google and Uptodate as they are some questions that requires a lot of searching to make sense. Also during the last week I did some ethics, biostatistics and quality questions from Amboss.
- BnB for the step 1: I did biostatistics, ethics and cardiovascular auscultation
- Assessments tools:
- U world self assessment 1 / two weeks out 266
- NBME 14: 254 one week out
- U world self assessment 2/ three days out 262
- Free 120 : I did the new one just the day before the exam 83%
- The channel below is for whoever needs guidance with step 1 / step 2 and US pathway in general. Feel free to join and keep me in your prayers.

I am particularly drawn to your program for its research positions and the presence of an active institutional review board on-site. I also value the program's emphasis on both inpatient and ambulatory medicine training.
