Conducted a small experiment with ChatGPT. The insights can be really helpful. Two models ChatGPT-4o (Free) and ChatGPT-1o (Plus subscription) were given a question from modern indian history from the 2024 GS-1 paper. In first case the models were simply fed the questions without any specific prompts. In the next case I crafted a specific prompt to get a UPSC specific model answer. In my opinion GPT-1o without any specific prompting gives best results. The answer is more structured and the phrasing of headings is more apt for a UPSC answer. When given a UPSC specific prompt to GPT-1o it prioritises word limit over anything else giving only 3 dimensions in answers. Best is to use GPT-1o and feed the question directly to it. Let it come up with a long passage and then use your own mind to cut short the answer to 150 or 250 words. What do you think which one fared better ?

FROM 11-02-2023 to till now it has been 278 Days . You will witness atleast a delay of 1.5 years more before the whole exam concludes . This is akin to missing an opportunity only. SC Judgement regarding the minority Status of Aligarh Muslim University is in news.
 
 
Practice this Mains Question 
 
Who are minorities ? The constitution of India protects the rights and interests of minorities to the extent that the rights conferred to them to establish and administer educational institutions of their choice are not absolute and are subject to reasonable restrictions. Discuss with help from decided case laws.
 
 
PS : No question has appeared in the General Studies -II related to rights of minorities. Freedom of speech and expression seems to be the favorite so far.

Read about "Principle of eminent domain". If you have Law optional this is one of the most REPEATED questions. However, since it is in news due to the recent SC judgement, it may (slight chances though) appear in GS-2 as well.  Questions in GS-2 are generally framed in a broad manner and may revolve around "relevance of term Socialist in the Indian constitution in light of neo-economic policies". or "Relevance of DPSP in an era of liberalisation" or "Relationship between FR and DPSP" or "Evolution of Right to Property" etc

One of the challenges to federalism is "Overlapping entries" in the Seventh Schedule. The words are phrased ambiguously and both Centre and state claim lawmaking powers on the subject. For Example "Intoxicating Liquor"
 
Also Centre has more number of subjects  and more important subjects under seventh schedule. States generally have subjects that require more responsibility like Health , Education etc. but less financial resources at their disposal.
 
SC said that "When there are two possible interpretations of the entries, the court must choose the one that maintains the federal balance"
 
Federalism is a basic feature of Indian constitution (SR Bommai Case)

🇮🇳🇷🇺 Game-Changer in trade: Chennai to Vladivostok in record time 👇

◾️The direct maritime distance between Chennai and Vladivostok is approximately 5,600 nautical miles (10,400 km).

◾️Using the traditional European route, it takes about 40-45 days to ship goods from India to Russia. The Chennai-Vladivostok route is expected to cut the shipping time by nearly half, reducing it to 24-25 days.

◾️Russia’s Far East is rich in natural resources, particularly oil, natural gas, and coal. India has been eyeing Russian energy supplies, and the Chennai-Vladivostok route would facilitate easier and quicker access to these resources, especially as India seeks to diversify its energy sources.

👉 The Chennai-Vladivostok route is part of broader strategic discussions that also consider linking India to Russia’s Northern Sea Route (NSR) through the Arctic. This could provide access to Europe, bypassing traditional routes like the Suez Canal.

Governance (Historical Ideas)
 
 
Governance is a part of Indian itihasa (History). When Bhishma lay on the bed of arrows during the Kurukshetra war, his advice to Yuddhisthira on good governance was " Sarva sama hitam" (Goodness for all), which Gandhiji adopted as Sarvodaya. Our traditional scriptures emphasize "Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu" (may all people be prosperous).
 
Chanakya emphasized yogakshema (individual and collective good). Raja Raja Chola and Mahendra Verma Pallava were renowned for philanthropy and fostering religious tolerance.
 
When Swami Vivekananda visited America in 1893 , he suggested a vedantic four point plan- be self aware, protect your resources, serve others before self, and act with compassion.
 
In recent contemporary times publications like the 2nd ARC emphasize similar ideas.

Those responsible for delivering justice are also not blind but on many occasions such delivery has been inordinately delayed because those responsible for delivering justice are busy correcting others instead of correcting themselves.
