• Families within Sudan who lost contact with their loved ones in the past days can call the ICRC Restoring Family Link Hot Line number +249 900 907 832 from Sunday to Thursday from 08:30 to 15:30 Sudan Local time.

6. Are refugee registration and documentation services currently active?
Commissioner for Refugees (COR) and UNHCR are working to restore and enhance timely registration and documentation services in the states where the security situation permits. Where services resume, information will be shared through the mass information and community structures closest to you.
CoR had resumed Registration and documentation services in Shagarab Camp, Kassala State. Please keep your identification documents safe as they could be required during registration interviews. While contacting COR or UNHCR in person or over the phone, please note your individual number or household number indicated on the documents issued to you during registration; if unregistered, details in Birth Certificates, National ID Card, Passports, School enrollment letters, Marriage Certificate and other civil documents could be requested.
Below locations have active registration teams.
Eastern Sudan
Kassala and Girba:
In Kassala State, registration services are available on Sunday, Monday, and Thursday at the COR Kassala office for populations residing in Kassala city; while in Wad Sherife the registration team is available on Tuesday and Wednesday. In Girba, registration services are available daily at the Shagarab camps.
Gedaref:
There is daily COR/UNHCR registration presence in Umrakuba, Babikri, Tenedba and Umgargour refugee hosting locations. The services offered included registration and document issuance.
Blue Nile State:
There is daily COR/UNHCR registration presence in Camp 6. The services offered included registration and document issuance.
Wad Madani:
COR and UNHCR Registration teams in Wad Madani are supporting emergency assistance activities. No individual registration or documentation services for refugees have been activated yet. This will be updated as soon as possible.
White Nile State
Registration and documentation services are available in White Nile State camps, processing refugee families that moved from other states but also continuous registration for the existing White Nile refugee population.
Northern State (Wadi Halfa)
No refugee registration or documentation activities are in place yet, individuals moving into Wadi Halfa could report their presence at the nearest UNHCR or partner office, here movement tracking will be recorded to support planning registration activities when activated.
Darfurs
No registration or documentation activities are in place, individuals moving into Darfur states could report their presence at the nearest COR office, here movement tracking will be recorded to support planning responses when security situation allows.
Kordofans
Currently, there are no registration or documentation activities in place. However, individuals moving into the Kordofan states are encouraged to report their presence at the nearest COR office. At these offices, movement tracking will be recorded. This information is crucial as it supports the planning of responses when the security situation permits.
Khartoum
No registration or documentation activities are in place due to prevailing security conditions.

Algazira State (Wad Madani)
If you recently arrived in Wad Madani and you would like information, be informed that UNHCR and partners are operational in Wad Madani and despite challenges in providing cash and other material support you will be able to receive services.
Food Distribution:
WFP in coordination with UNHCR is distributing food to refugees in gathering sites in Wad Madani.
Legal Services:
UNHCR in coordination with Mutawinat are providing legal services in Wad Madani.

Northern State (Wadi Halfa)
 
UNHCR in Wadi Halfa is doing profiling exercise for refugees and third county nationals, to know their intentions where they want to stay in Wadi Halfa, relocate to a camp, or go to Egypt. UNHCR is not able to help stranded population to obtain a visa. However, UNHCR is advocating with its senior management to try to solve some challenges regarding the issuance of the VISA as well as advocating for the right to seek asylums for all persons forced to flee.
UNHCR is also doing protection monitoring on regular basis targeting the gathering points. UNHCR is also conducting a regular protection desk at SRCS office alongside refugees and third country nationals profiling. Additional protection help desks will be established in three locations accessible to IDPs.
If you hear reports of stranded population including children at risk of being trafficked, report the incidents to the UNHCR help desk or report to the protection monitoring team during the protection monitoring visits.
If you need to follow up on a lost family member in Wadi halfa, You can approach ICRC at the SRCS office in Halfa and talk to the Restoring Family Links focal person Sheren (+249 90 081 6080.)
Assistance:
UNHCR as a humanitarian organization is providing NFIs to the vulnerable stranded populations at the gathering point, coordinating with other partners i.e., SRCS, Emergency room to accommodate the stranded populations. Assessing the protection needs for suitable referral pathway. Coordinating with relevant NGOs and sisters UN agencies to improve the living conditions of the stranded population.
Medical Assistance:
For medical services, you can approach the Wadi Halfa health center for medical assistance. UNHCR in collaboration with MoH, AOSD, and SRCS is also looking into ways to ensure stranded population have access to primary healthcare services and health referral for displaced persons.
Gender based violence response:
It is recommended to immediately approach the Wadi Halfa health center for medical assistance and report to the police for intervention. You can also approach Nada Al Azhar for further assistance including case management and psychosocial support.

How can I access medical services?
• If you are in a refugee camp in Kassala, Gedaref, White Nile State and Blue Nile State, you can access primary health services and referrals to specialized care through UNHCR-supported partners.
• In the Kordofan region, PoCs receive standard medical treatment and nutrition through the hospital with support of UNHCR partners. However, referrals to other states (El Obeid) and Khartoum are currently suspended due to security concerns.
• UNHCR is looking into ways to ensure refugees have access to primary healthcare services and health referrals in all other locations, including urban areas once the security situation allows for safe access to healthcare. In Wadi Halfa you can approach the Wadi Halfa health center for medical assistance where UNHCR in collaboration with MoH, AOSD, and SRCS is also looking into ways to ensure stranded population have access to primary healthcare services and health referral for displaced persons.
• For Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, Nada Alazhar has established the following hotlines through phone and WhatsApp to support your mental health needs at present time. This includes situations of distress for children and those who have encountered traumatic events in the fighting.

While, UNHCR itself does not entertain and/or directly facilitate any request for voluntary repatriation to the countries of origin for now due to the prevailing situation other than through IOM

Families within Sudan who have lost contact with their loved ones over the past few days can call the ICRC’s Restoring Family Links hotline at 📞+249 900 907 832.

The hotline is available from Sunday to Thursday from 08:30 to 15:30 (Sudan local time).  

Please note that this number is only available for enquiries from within Sudan. If you are outside Sudan, please contact your country’s nearest ICRC or Red Cross Red Crescent office.
