Ibn al-Jawzi (رحمه الله) said:

"If a Muslim doesn’t finish reciting the Qur’an in Ramadan—the month of the Qur’an—then chances are, they won’t finish it during the rest of the year unless Allah wills otherwise.

Not completing it is a sign of neglect, and it’s a reason to keep praying for Allah to remove this state of heedlessness from the heart."

Friday Checklist:

1. Taking a bath (ghusl).
2. Applying perfume.
3. Wearing the best clothes.
4. Using the miswak (tooth-stick).
5. Going early to the mosque, listen sermon attentively.
6. Frequently sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ.
7. Reciting Surah Al-Kahf.
8. Seeking the hour of acceptance (of supplications).
9. Pray for oppressed muslims across the globe

The One Who Has The Determination To Forsake Sinning In Ramaḍān Alone Has Not Fully Repented

Shaykh Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:

"The one who has the determination to forsake sinning in the month of Ramaḍān and no other month has not fully made tawbah (repentance). Rather, he has forsaken sinning in the month of Ramaḍān.

He will be rewarded if he abandoned (sinning) for Allāh and by way of exalting the symbols of Allah (i.e. the month of Ramaḍān) and avoiding what He has made impermissible in that time, but he is not from those who has made tawbah and will be forgiven entirely."

Dua on sighting new moon

Allahumma ahillahu ‘alayna bi’l-yumni wa’l-iman wa’l-salamah wa’l-islam. Rabbiy wa rabbuka Allah

"O Allah, make the new moon rise on us with blessing, faith, safety and Islam. My Lord and Your Lord is Allah).”

(Classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih al-Tirmidhi, 2745)

It is wrong to say "Ramadan Kareem" because Ramadan is not generous by itself.

Ibn Uthaymeen (رحمه الله ) said:

"The ruling concerning this is, this phrase "Ramadan Kareem" is not correct, and the only phrase that should be said is Ramadan Mubarak or that resembles that.
Because Ramadan is not the one that gives such that it can be called "Generous" (Kareem) rather it is only Allah the Exalted that put virtue in it and made it a virtuous month and made the time period for performing (the fasting) a pillar from Islam."

It is best to say "Ramadan Mubarak" because Ramadan is a blessed month.

Allāh says: Indeed, We sent it (The Qur'an) down during a blessed (Mubarak) night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. (44:3)

Ramadan is Here—Will this one be Different?

Every year we promise “This Ramadan, I’ll change.” “This time, I’ll do better.” But the reality?
The first few days we’re motivated, and then…?
The same excuses, the same laziness, the same distractions–work, exams, social media. And before we know it, Ramadan is over, and we’re left with nothing but regret.

Actually we are the problem. We waste time scrolling, overstuffing at iftar, sleeping through Fajr, skipping Qur’an, and then crying on the last night, hoping Laylatul Qadr will fix everything. But what if this is our last Ramadan? What if there’s no ‘next year’ to make up for this one?

What Needs to Change—Right Now:

• Cut the crap. Uninstall the distractions. Block the time-wasters. If it doesn’t bring you closer to Allah, it’s not worth it.

• Plan your ibadah like your life depends on it. Because guess what? It does. Make your Qur’an and salah non-negotiable. increase the acts of worship as much as you can.

• No more ‘I’ll do it later.’ Later is a lie. Later is the shaytan’s trap. Do it now—before you run out of chances.

• Ask yourself: If I don’t make it to Eid, will this Ramadan be enough for me to get jannah?

If we enter this Ramadan the same way we did last year, we’ll leave it the same way too—unchanged. And that’s a terrifying thought. This is your wake-up call. Don’t waste it.

Ramadan preparation doesn't start on the first night of Taraweeh-it starts months before. Don't waste another Ramadan thinking you can make it up from the first day.
