The picture depicts the changes that have taken place in the layout of a park since 1980.

In 1980, there was an area for flowers on the south-western corner of the park, with a gate adjacent to it on the central south. On top of this area, one could see benches and a pond, with another gate on the upper western portion allowing visitor to enter and exit the park. On the north-eastern phase was a triangular zone featuring several trees, while the lower east was dedicated to another larger flower bed.

Since then, the park has undergone significant transformations to its map. The smaller flower area has been cleared to make way for a bush and benches multiplied in number. The bigger flower bed is now a playground, and the triangular area for trees has been converted into a picnic area, offering chairs, desks, barbecue, and a green scenery. Moreover, the gates have been demolished, making space for intersectional roads to make the facilities more accessible, with the pond in the middle remaining intact.

In summary, over the last 45 years, the park has gone from an area with limited resources for entertainment to a settlement offering a wider selection of recreational facilities. More specifically, the introduction of playground, chairs, desks, barbecue, benches, and roads have made the park more appealing and accessible for visitors. Of particular note is the pond in middle-west, which has stayed unchanged.

Today, many people use the internet to share and receive money.

Why is this the case?

Is it a positive or negative development?

Recently, there has been a trend of many people using the internet to make financial transactions. While this trend, mainly driven by the convenience and speed digital tools offer, is no doubt without its benefits, it does more harm than good.

One reason for the recent shift from offline to online money transfers is the convenience the internet provides to its users. Through online platforms and websites, it is possible to send and receive virtually any amounts of money from the comfort of one’s home. This allows people from diverse backgrounds, particularly from disadvantaged communities, to exchange money digitally, without turning to centralized banks that demand undue time and effort to perform the same task.

Speed is another driving factor. In the current fast-paced and action-packed world, in order to enhance their efficiency and productivity, people try to complete daily, professional, and educational activities as soon as possible. This leaves relatively little time for other endeavours, including fiscal transactions, making online methods, which are much less time-consuming and more affordable, even more appealing for people.

One major benefit of using the internet to transact money is the democratization of economy. People, regardless of their financial and social status, can make money transfers across the world, with the internet. Unlike traditional banks that set certain limits in terms of time and amounts of money planned to transfer, online applications, such as PayPal and Click, offer a decentralized banking system entirely accessible to the public at anytime and anywhere.

However, the downsides associated with transacting money online far outclass the benefits. Firstly, the internet is prone to cyber-attacks, data breaching, and misinformation. The data people use on the internet is always under the risk of digital harassment, increasing the danger of information being hacked, disseminated, and used for non-consensual purposes. This might lead to the dissemination of people’s personal data and loss of money intended for a particular transaction.

Furthermore, the digital divide still remains a problem. There are still individuals with limited or no access to necessary tools, such as a phone, computer, and proper internet connection. This can result in the perceived gap between the rich and poor widening further, with the affluent portion of the populace employing online platforms to make even more profit, while the disadvantaged are left with limited resources.

In conclusion, the growing preference for digital money transfers can mainly be attributed to the convenience and swiftness of such transactions, making them a more attractive choice in today’s hectic world. While notable benefits of this phenomenon include the decentralization of banking system and swift financial transactions, the potential negative outcomes, such as cyber-attacks, misinformation, and widened socio-economic disparity, far outweigh the advantages.

The graph compares how much money was spent on cell phones, national and international fixed-line services from 2001 to 2010.

At the beginning of the period, national fixed-line services topped the list in terms of expense, accounting for $700. The figure for international fixed-line services followed/trailed distantly behind, constituting approximately $280. At the same time, cell phone services emerged as the smallest expenditure, at $200.

In 2010, having increased consistently, the proportion of money spent on cell phone services reached its peak at $750. Similarly, prior to remaining almost unchanged at $300 from 2004 to 2010, the line for international fixed-line services on the chart rose slightly/merely. However, after decreasing significantly, the figure for national fixed-line service came next, hovering around $400.

In summary, over the period given, the figures for all the types of telephoning services cited in the question increased significantly, with the exception of national fixed-line services, on which the amount of money spent declined considerably. Of particular note is cell phone services, which required the largest amount of financial attention at the end of the timeframe, despite demanding the smallest amount of money at the beginning.

These days more and more people are wearing Western clothes.

What is this the case?

Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Recently, there has been a trend of many people opting to wear western clothes instead of their own traditional ones. In my opinion, the driving factors behind this phenomenon, which entails more drawbacks than benefits, are the advent of various technological tools and globalization.

One major contributory factor to this phenomenon is the recent technological strides humanity has experienced. For example, with the rise of the internet and social media sites, such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, people are now exposed to traditions, customs, and attire of nations around the globe more than ever. As a result, traditional clothing styles of dominant cultures, particularly those of the Western world, are becoming increasingly prevalent.

Another reason behind the growing prevalence of western c lothing across the world is globalization. Due to increasing international trade, business relationships, and e-commerce in the current tech-driven society, it has become easier for people and businesses to import garments, fashionable clothes, and trendy outfits from other countries. Given the extreme perceived popularity of clothing styles of nations in the Western portion of the globe on social networks, it is no surprise to see western clothes take the world by storm.

On the one hand, this global change in clothing styles entails certain benefits. Individuals can gain invaluable insights into the traditional practices, customs, and rituals of the Western world when they search for information about western clothes on the internet or simply through asking local residents of a western nation. This is particularly conducive for cultural exchange, understanding, and global harmony, which the modern world, where racial, cultural, and political tensions occur frequently, needs more of.

However tremendous the benefits might appear to be, they pale in comparison with the enormous downsides. The growing preference for western outfits presents the risk of cultural homogenization. When people gain disproportionately more exposure to western clothing trends, it can overshadow traditional attire of marginalized communities, which are already on the brink of disappearance. This can further diminish the existence of endangered and disadvantaged groups of people, potentially hindering cultural diversity and making the world a monotonous settlement.

Social consequences also cannot be neglected. Considering the immense expenses associated with the production, shipment, and distribution of western clothes, they are usually sold at significantly high prices. It is, unfortunately, true that such highly priced attire might not always be accessible or affordable for those at the lower echelons of financial status. This can widen the gap between the rich and poor in societies, eventually leading to social divides and conflicts.

In conclusion, the growth in tendency to wear western clothes around the world, fueled mainly by the modern technology and globalization, is a complicated issue that necessitates careful consideration. While major benefits this development can bring include the promotion of global harmony and balance, they are largely outclassed by the disadvantages: cultural homogenization and a widened socio-economic gap

The graphs give information about students aiming at becoming researchers in universities in Australia between 2001 and 2010.

In 2001, the total number of students was 38.849, 33.657(87%) of which were local, while 5.192(13%) were international. The percentage of local male students stood at 44%, whereas their female counterparts made up 43% of the total. Similarly, on an international level, the figure for males was higher than that of females, 9% compared to 4%.

In 2011, a similar pattern could be observed. Made up of 39.488(73%) local students and 14.593(27%) international students, there were 54.081 research students in total. Local male students accounted for 38% and females 35% of the whole. However, non-local female students outnumbered non-local male ones, constituting 15% and 12% respectively.

In summary, although both of their proportions increased significantly over the period given, the number of local students was consistently higher than that of international ones. As for gender-based statistics, Australian male students always had a higher proportion than females of the same nationality. In contrast, albeit outclassed numerically by men in 2001, non-local female students exceeded men in quantity in 2010.

Due to the science and technology, the lifestyles of people across the globe are becoming more and ore similar.

Why is this the case?

Is that a positive or negative development?

Recently, owing to the advent of technological and scientific breakthroughs, difference in the way people live has become blurred on a global scale. From my point of view, this trend is largely driven by technology and globalization, and it, while entailing certain benefits, is a significantly negative turn of events.

One of the major drivers of the global similarity in lifestyles is technology. With the internet connecting people from a vast array of cultures and nationalities, it has become easier than ever for individuals to gain insights into traditional values, practices, and customs of other countries. Therefore, the cultural lifestyles of dominant nations, such as those in the Western world, are becoming prevalent, leading to a common way to live across the globe.

Furthermore, the increased travel has contributed globalization, creating a rifle effect. With the rise of air-travel, improved transport systems, and passenger ships, people are now able to travel around the world with unparalleled ease. This has led to many people bringing traditional activities and cultural endeavours of other nations into their own countries, further amplifying cross-points in lifestyles of people in the world.

Such similarities in lifestyles of people from different countries, in addition, can contribute to cultural homogenization. When dominant cultures overshadow the marginalized ones, it may diminish cultural diversity, promoting traditions, customs, and rituals of one nation over another’s. As a result, the world can become a banal place, with diversity in opinions fading into obscurity and the same opinions on matters reigning supreme.

Moreover, economic downsides should not be overlooked, as numerous industries are based on cultural diversity. Take tourism as an example, a sector of economy that relies primarily on differences in architectural designs, age-old practices, and unique activities of countries. However, if buildings, lifestyles, and customs of nations are similar, the tourism industry may suffer huge financial losses, with people showing little or no interest in visiting another country due to a lack of novelty and diversity.

Let us not lose sight of a positive aspect. One major benefit presented by this development is the facilitation of global harmony. When people across the world share the same values, traditions, and beliefs, the world can become a tribe of individuals with similar interests and perspectives. This can lead to substantial reductions in cultural clashes, conflicts, and tensions, thereby fostering camaraderie, harmony, and balance in the world.

In conclusion, the proliferation of similar lifestyles around the world is a complicated issue that necessitates careful consideration. While this trend can be attributed mainly to modern technological advancements and globalization, it presents a mixed bag of benefits and drawbacks, with the former including global harmony while the latter cultural homogenization and significant fiscal losses.
