I recently had the incredible opportunity to join the National Level Monitoring (NLM) team to assess the implementation of several key government flagship schemes and programs in 10 Gram Panchayats in Mandsaur district, Madhya Pradesh. These schemes—ranging from MGNREGA, PMAY-G, and DAY-NRLM to PM Gramin Sadak Yojana, PENSION schemes, SWAMITVA, and CMTC—are crucial for the development and upliftment of rural communities.

One of the most striking observations was the convergence of PMAY-G with MGNREGA, Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Ujjwala Yojana, and Saubhagya (Har Ghar Bijli Abhiyaan). This convergence exemplified how the integrated approach of various government initiatives can bring comprehensive benefits to rural households, ensuring not only housing but also clean energy, sanitation, and livelihood generation under one umbrella.

Moreover, DAY-NRLM (Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission) is proving to be a game-changer in these Gram Panchayats, with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Village Organizations (VOs), and Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) playing pivotal roles in boosting the rural economy. The active participation of local women and community members in these programs is fostering self-reliance and entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.

During my field visits, I had meaningful interactions with elected representatives and functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI). It was heartening to see their strong awareness and commitment to the effective implementation of these schemes. I also had the chance to discuss critical topics such as Social Audit, Gram Sabha, Gram Panchayat Development Plans (GPDP), and the importance of maintaining the necessary registers to ensure transparency and accountability within governance processes.

This experience has deepened my understanding of rural development and highlighted the vital role these schemes play in empowering rural communities. My sincere thanks to the NLM team and the CEO of Zila Panchayat for giving me this unique opportunity to engage with the local governance and development mechanisms in Mandsaur. It was an immensely valuable learning experience, and I look forward to contributing further to such initiatives aimed at rural growth and transformation.
