We were honoured to recently welcome Minister Chan Chun Sing and esteemed members of the Ministry of Educationโ€™s senior leadership to SMU. During their visit, they engaged directly with some of our remarkable students from the SMU College of Integrative Studies, who showcased their innovative projects and academic journeys.

Leon Lee, a Year 2 student and President of the inCISive student society, shared his insights on Urban Development Governance, drawing from his experiences at #SGSMUCIS. He highlighted his participation in the ASEAN University Network Summer Camp and his aspirations to join the Global Innovation Immersion in Vietnam next year.

Alexander Tsai, a Year 2 student majoring in Human-Computer Interactions, presented his work on the Reach Alliance project, which focuses on enhancing financial literacy for migrant workers through chatbots. He also reflected on his internships with Outlier AI and Sustainable Learning Lab, where he gained valuable experience with language models and human-technology interactions. Minister Chan provided thoughtful feedback on the REACH Alliance project design.

Renee Tan, a Year 4 student majoring in Narrative Designs in Global Cities, presented a selection of artwork from her upcoming exhibition at the de Suantio Gallery. Her work, which explores city narratives through the lens of art, culture, and tourism, is part of her senior thesis on Metro Manila. Her presentation sparked a meaningful dialogue with Minister Chan on the concept of an 'ideal' city narrative and her future career plans.
