‼️RL Survival Guide👇🏻
(Not tested yet)

(If you’re taking your test on the 4th, 5th, 6th of November, go for this 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻)

🔵The lecture provides/ gives/ shows (essential and useful) information about “the topic”.

🟠Firstly, the speaker talked about content and content.

🟣On the other hand (In addition to this information), you can see/ notice content and content.

🟢You can also see/notice content and content.

🟡The speaker also talked about content and content.

🟤In conclusion (To conclude), this lecture shows content and content.

🚨Attention:

✔️
Still fluency comes first! Skip whatever notes you wrote but cannot read fluently!

✔️For the sake of fluency, do not say very long or very short sentences.

✔️Try to write down phrases rather than words if possible.

✔️To maintain clarity, use 3 or 4 different “sentence-starters” & do not repeat the same thing for 2 consecutive sentences:

- The lecture was about A and B.
-The lecture was about C and D.

✔️Avoid using all-prefabricated sentences like:
In conclusion, it’s an informative lecture.

✔️Try to speak for min 30-35 seconds.

Hello guys,

I’m available for our scheduled Q&A.
Meanwhile, I’m trying to book myself a test on Monday morning.

🔵My understanding at this point:

It won’t be a huge change for PickTalkers as our templates are not block ones. We use only linkers to produce fluency and we get real content from the picture/ lecture.
This change might mostly affect people who use “block templates” with lots of prefabricated sentences and put all their content in the last sentence (like Jimmy’s method and the similar ones).

Avoid using “all-prefabricated” sentences which do not include any content. For example:
✔️I’m going to talk about a beautiful and informative picture.
✔️The lecture shows a lot of information about an interesting topic.
✔️In conclusion, the picture/ lecture is very informative.

DI: speak for min 30 seconds
RL: speak for min 35 seconds

For DI, do NOT use irrelevant stuff anymore!

For instance, if you have a cycle, do not use “minimum” and “maximum”, or “highest” and “lowest values”.
If there are no numbers, do not say the picture shows different numbers.
Use only “RELEVANT” content.

The grammar is still NOT IMPORTANT. The human examiner does not care about your grammar. It’s ONLY content.

For RL, try to grab “phrases” rather than “words”.
How: use “tune-in/ tune-out” method.
Switch your ears off while writing notes helps you to write longer strings of words=phrases.

”Describe Image” is still about “describing” an “image”, not “analyzing” it. The task is the same. So don’t worry!
You don’t need to do any analysis.

”Retell Lecture” is still
about “retelling” a “lecture”, not summarizing it. So don’t worry. What ever content you get, you’re fine. It can be ANYTHING that existed in the lecture.
Please do NOT paraphrase.
Your sentences do not have to be grammatically correct.

‼️PTE Scoring Update‼️

Hello guys,
According to Pearson’s announcement, Starting from 4 November 2024, the scoring of DI & RL will change and human examiners will also check the responses for the sake of its content. We already know the machine was not able to check the content properly & we loved it!

But well, things seem to be changing.
This is the link to the update & I’ll do some research to get more info. I’ll keep you posted🙌🏻

DEAR TEST TAKERS,

As Pearson we have very brief scoring update for you. Starting from 4th November the content of the Describe Image part and Retell Lecture parts will be checked by both artificial intelligence and human. Do not worry, this will not hugely impact scoring. I only request you to consider this small update and apply correct strategies and tactics during these two parts through your PTE trainers. Please check the proper tactics with your PTE teachers. In addition on 5th November at 10:00 AM Iran Time we are going to give a webinar about this as Pearson for you test takers as free. For Joining to this webinar please click on https://pearson.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_BD9H32dUSXe828XotHapqA#/registration and register
