Rheumatic fever

#Diagnosis based on :-
two major criteria is stronger than that based on 1 major & 2 minor criteria(AND evidence of recent strept infection)

- #Exceptions:
1-Chorea, late-onset carditis, rheumatic recurrence in patients with documented RHD،may be the only major .
2- Fever>39.5° C is very unusual in rheumatic fever
3- Arthralgia Should Not be considered a minor criterion in patients with arthritis
4- Leukocytosis, ESR & CRP are all considered one minor criterion

A- It is an infrequent form of arrhythmia in pediatric age group.
B- Symptoms of heart failure are not a feature at neonatal period.
C- Always associated with structural heart defect.
