Recently, a backdoor in the xz package was reported (source: https://news.opensuse.org/2024/03/29/xz-backdoor/). Our OrangeFox infrastructure was utilizing the vulnerable version.

In order to safeguard the security of all our users, we have ultimately decided to shut down the infrastructure until we can ensure that there is no intrusion of any kind in our system. 🦊

As the infrastructure operator, I acknowledge the recent downtimes and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please stay tuned to this message as it will be updated periodically.

Update - the downloads website and wiki are restored

There have been malevolent and dangerous people who try to impersonate members of the OrangeFox team. They often send PMs to people, pretending to give them good advice. However, the "advice" usually given is to try to get people to run commands that will permanently brick their devices.

Please note that nobody in the OrangeFox team will send you a PM. If you receive a PM from anybody who pretends to be one of the OrangeFox team, you should delete the PM immediately. Most importantly, do NOT run any commands that the person suggests to you. If you do so, and you brick your device, do NOT come to the OrangeFox groups for help. We cannot help you.

You must be extremely suspicious about any advice that comes through a PM, or through somebody pretending to be a member of the OrangeFox team posting advice outside of the official OrangeFox groups. You have been warned!

We are living in difficult times right now. 3 years ago, the COVID-19 pandemic erupted. The whole world has been reeling from its devastating impact. As we were about to catch up, a new deadly roadblock has appeared.

There is a very violent conflict currently going on between Ukraine and Russia. It already has taken a lot of innocent lives, spreading consternation and worry around the world. The OrangeFox team, having its core members and infrastructure in the country under assault, is also very concerned about the security of people.

Please, consider donating to your local charities that support Ukrainians, as we also pray for their safety and future lives. We encourage you to verify every piece of information about this conflict that you get, as is much disinformation and fake news spreading.

To the Ukrainians - please stay safe and take care!

As you people might have noticed, the development of OrangeFox's Android 11 sources is a bit slower than usual. The main reason for this being that none of the core Developers have a device to work on that utilizes GKI, Virtual A/B or any of the other Android11 specific features.

To tackle this, we have decided to open crowdfunding for a Xiaomi Poco F3. The device will go to one of the core developers to ensure that OrangeFox will support all the new features.
In addition to that, the device will be officially maintained.

Please consider making a contribution.
OrangeFox is fully open-source, free, doesn't have ads, and is still going on only because of Your support.

R11.0 for Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 (lavender) after moving the deadline, is finally released.

Download it here (https://orangefox.download/en/build/lavender/stable/R11.0). In that time (3 days) we have patched potentially critical issues.

Other timelines are not moved, and all should be as expected.

Also, we want to remind you that you should please NOT ask us about new updates. Updates will be released smoothly, after sustained beta-testing, and when we are sure that releases will be bugless.

OrangeFox Recovery R11.0 is near. R11.0 heralds a new era for OrangeFox Recovery. We started development in last year, and right now we are adding finishing touches. You can find the changelog here.

Very soon we will start updating our devices to the R11.0 version.

Release timeline:
11-12 July: Stable R11.0 release for lavender
18-19 July: Stable R11.0 release for devices that successfully passed beta testing
19-20 July: The OrangeFox Recovery R11.0 sources will be made public

We have a week's window after the lavender release to be sure that R11.0 is even more thoroughly tested. After that, other devices will come with stable releases.

If your device is not updated at this time, please don't ask us about it. Maintainers also have a life, and they will make their releases at their earliest convenience.

Kudos to the OrangeFox Recovery devs!

OrangeFox Recovery is increasing exponentially in popularity every day. With this growth comes higher expectations from users. We are responding by raising our own expectations for general OrangeFox stability on all devices.

From now a maintainer will be able to release a 'Stable' build only if his build is bugless, especially regarding features like MIUI OTA (on Xiaomi devices) and Decryption.

'Stable' builds (especially the initial release) need to be fully and properly tested before release. Any build that is not fully and properly tested will now be restricted to release in the 'Beta' branch only. Currently, these restrictions will be applied only to new devices.

We also encourage you to support this initiative and help us make OrangeFox Recovery more bugless than ever.

Read our wiki about how to make proper reports and send reports to @OrangeFoxChat
