Beauty of Test Cricket and Similarity to UPSC
1. India got all out on 46 on Day 1 vs NZ. Morale shattering day which can definitely hamper your self-confidence.
2. NZ got to a good start - scoring 200+ on day 1
3. India came back the next day picking quick wickets. Putting pressure back on NZ.
4. Mental game. Rachin Ravindra and Southee not only came on top but did unimaginable.
4 overs went for 58 runs. In Test Cricket.
5. NZ got the lead of 356 - it seemed all but over. But it's never over until it's over
6. India got a good start but unfortunate dismissals. After Rohit dismissal, still a mountain of runs to be overcome.
7. Kohli-Sarfaraz partnership was testament to what just being there means. Keep holding on despite you knowing that it's going to be difficult. Not giving up.
8. In fact before the last ball was bowled, India seemed in the driver's seat!
9. Last Ball of the day - Kohli got out.
It all starts fresh again today. It can go either way. It's about temperament, applying skills, and immense self-belief.
Pressure of Expectations. Fear of Failure. Opportunity to do unthinkable.
Test cricket is about Mindset and Skills.
That's what UPSC preparation is about.
