After learning a strategy and getting its data from backtesting and forward testing, one crucial aspect you need to focus on is mastering when not to trade that strategy. The saying '80% of the time in trading is waiting' holds true, and if a trader masters the art of choosing the right market conditions, that 20% of active trading can be extremely rewarding. There are many market conditions that are not favorable for your strategy, and forward testing, along with journaling, is the key to recognizing these. Here's some free information on my New York Judas Model: It achieves a 65% win rate under the best market conditions and around 40% during bad market conditions. Over 10 years of data, Fridays and Mondays seem to be the least performing days for the model. CPI, NFP, PPI, and NFP release days are also unfavorable for trading with the model. The last two weeks of December and the month of January are the least performing periods. This information has been extracted through extensive research and data collection. With this knowledge, I know how to manage the model during such market periods and conditions, whether by staying on the sidelines, reducing risk, or being nimble. As I mentioned earlier, you must master knowing WHEN NOT TO TRADE, just as you learn when to trade.
