Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced today that it signed a comprehensive memorandum of understanding with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to deepen cooperation in the fields of decarbonisation, digitalisation, and human resources development. Incident Alert: Oil Spill during Bunkering Operations off Changi

MPA was alerted to an oil spill off Changi during a bunkering operation between a Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier, INES CORRADO and a licensed bunker tanker. The incident was reported to occur at about 5.40pm on 28 October and the bunkering operations ceased immediately. MPA craft arrived at about 5.50pm and sprayed dispersants.

As at 8am this morning, there is no oil sighted at sea in the vicinity of the incident and ashore.

Agencies Continue to Monitor for Oil Sightings

The clean-up of oil in the channel between Pulau Bukom and Bukom Kechil is progressing. The clearing of the remaining trapped oil within the containment booms in the channel and the cleaning of the stained rock bunds and infrastructure are targeted to be completed in the coming days. There are no other oil sightings at sea and ashore as at 3pm (Singapore time).

Precautionary Measures Taken by Government Agencies

Shell reported that an estimated 30 to 40 metric tonnes of slop, a mixture of oil and water, was leaked from its land-based pipeline into the water yesterday. Agencies are working closely with Shell to clean up the leaked oil in the channel between Pulau Bukom and Bukom Kecil. As 21 October at 3 pm (Singapore Time), there are no other oil sightings.

Incident Alert: Oil Leak from Shell Pipeline

MPA was alerted to an oil leak from a Shell pipeline between Bukom Island and Bukom Kecil. MPA has deployed MPA craft equipped with dispersants together with craft from its contractor Singapore Salvage Engineers. MPA has also activated its drones and satellite capabilities to assist with the sighting of the oil spill.

The leak was reported to have stopped at source. No new oil sightings as of 6 pm, and navigation remains unaffected.
