The Jammu and Kashmir Transport Department has issued a strong advisory to parents, urging them not to allow minors to drive. Violators will face strict penalties under Section 199A of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, including:
Imprisonment up to 3 years and a fine of ₹25,000 for guardians or vehicle owners.
Cancellation of vehicle registration for 12 months.
Ineligibility for driving or learner's license until the minor turns 25.
