Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified and experienced HSE Specialist/Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. A key aspect of this role includes expertise in lifting operations, (authorized lifting planning), and maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and enforce HSE policies, procedures, and standards to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations to identify potential hazards and improve safety protocols.
• Plan and coordinate lifting operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Serve as an authorized lifting planner, overseeing lifting procedures and verifying that lifting equipment is safe and fit for use.
• Conduct safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and management on best practices and HSE policies.
• Monitor and report on HSE performance and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Ensure all activities adhere to local and international health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop safety procedures for projects, new installations, and ongoing operations.
• Participate in emergency response planning and lead drills and simulations as required.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in HSE technologies.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Certification as an Authorized Lifting Planner is required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably within the [relevant industry, e.g., construction, oil and gas].
• In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
• Proven experience with lifting operations and ability to plan and oversee safe lifting activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
• Proficiency in HSE management software and MS Office Suite.
• Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are preferred.
