A Step into Russian Culture: IMI KSMU Students Attended a Musical Performance Based on a Folk Tale

📅 One of the pre-New Year evenings, Malaysian students visited the Kursk State Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin. The events of the famous folk tale "Morozko" unfolded on stage.

The students listened to the sounds of ancient Slavic melodies, appreciated the beauty of the three-dimensional computer decorations, and paid special attention to the choreography of national dances.

👏 The performance conveyed messages of goodness and true love, immersing the students in the magic of the tale with authentically Russian motifs. Despite the challenges in understanding specific Russian words like "batyushka" (father), "matushka" (mother), "pogibel" (doom), "krovinka" (little blood), and archaic words like "khudo" (bad), "studeno" (cold), "zlato" (gold), the folk musical evoked vivid and exciting emotions in the audience. The performance served as a stepping stone in understanding Russian culture, traditions.

Dear students!

Respected teachers and colleagues!

I congratulate you on International Students' Day, a day of solidarity and unity among the student youth!

This holiday is celebrated on November 17. Today, it is associated with youth, romance, and joy. However, its history is linked to the tragic events at the beginning of World War II: the date is established in memory of the solidarity of Czech students.

Today, Students' Day is celebrated in many countries around the world.

Student years are a time for acquiring initial professional knowledge and practical skills. The foundations for the future professional successes of upcoming specialists are laid during their time at university. The knowledge gained at our university will allow all graduates to feel like happy individuals, needed by society! But everyone must remember that much depends on the individual; a life full of interest will only be achieved by those who take responsibility for themselves.

Medical students are a special category because they have chosen a profession of kindness and patience. Compassion and care for every patient must live in the heart of every doctor.

Students of Kursk State Medical University have achieved great heights in their studies, science, sports, and public life. They are proactive, energetic, and talented. Their civic and life positions are formed at the university.

I wish each student good studies, health, and great happiness! May everyone have strength of spirit and confidence in their abilities! I believe that the future of our domestic medicine is in reliable hands!

V. A. Lazarenko, Rector of KSMU, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma of the VII convocation, Honorary Citizen of Kursk.

Mortui vivos docent

A wonderful and very interesting tour was organized for the new international students of KSMU International Medical Institute to KSMU Anatomical Theater, which houses a huge collection of mummies, skeletons, and exhibits demonstrating the structure of the human body and pathologies of intrauterine development. Assoc. Prof. of L.M. Ryazaeva accompanied the students on a journey into the world of anatomy: she described each exhibit in detail and showed what harmful habits such as smoking, alcohol, and drugs can lead to.

Students were particularly interested in a sculptural composition - a monument to a surgeon in the form of a huge skull consisting of 1.5 thousand instruments from various fields of surgery - medical clamps, retractors, scalpels, pliers, saws, rib cutters, needle holders, hooks, etc.
