INTERNATIONAL CHEETAH DAY

Every year on December 4th, International Cheetah Day encourages people worldwide to help this animal win the race against extinction.

The cheetah is a big, slender cat with long legs. Its short fur is yellowish-tan and covered in thousands of black spots. Most cheetahs have between 2,000 and 3,000 spots, which helps to camouflage themselves. The animal's name comes from the Hindi word, โ€œchita,โ€ which means โ€œspotted one.โ€ These big cats weigh anywhere from 46 to 158 pounds.

World Wildlife Conservation Day 2024

Date: Wednesday, 4 December 2024; 12th Anniversary.

Objectives:
World Wildlife Conservation Day is annually observed for the following purposes:

to raise awareness about the species that are endangered or under threat of extinction.
to promote the protection of the decreasing numbers of wildlife species across the globe.

World Wildlife Conservation Day is on December 4 and weโ€™re so excited to spread awareness about preserving Earthโ€™s endangered flora and fauna. What do you think the most invasive species on Earth is? Monkeys? Catfish? Locusts? Itโ€™s us, humans. Natureโ€™s most magnificent creatures are becoming endangered and being pushed to the brink of extinction by the greed of some humans, and this is causing irreparable harm to the wildlife ecosystem.

World Childrenโ€™s Day

World Childrenโ€™s Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day and is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare.
November 20th is an important date as it is the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.

Listen to the future. Stand up for childrenโ€™s rights.

World Childrenโ€™s Day is UNICEFโ€™s global day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Child rights are human rights. They are non-negotiable and universal. But in too many places today childrenโ€™s rights are being misunderstood, disregarded or even denied and attacked.

Upholding childrenโ€™s rights is the compass to a better world โ€“ today, tomorrow and into the future.

International E-Waste Day
Mon Oct 14th, 2024

E-waste is made up of electronic products that are old, broken or have come to the end of their usefulness.
Televisions, computers, tape players, printers, VCRs, game consoles and so many other electronics items are often left sitting in someoneโ€™s basement or garage for years to come or, even worse, thrown into a landfill.
As the most rapidly growing problem of waste in the world, e-waste is responsible for approximately 50 million tons or more of waste each year. Sadly, less than 20% of this e-waste is documented, recycled and disposed of in an appropriate manner.
International E-Waste Day is here to get everyone on board with tackling this global problem through recycling along with appropriate disposal tactics.

World Teachersโ€™ Day

World Teachers' Day, also referred to as International Teachers' Day, is observed annually on October 5th .

Valuing teacher voices: towards a new social contract for education

Overworked, undervalued, and underpaid, more and more teachers are leaving the profession they love and that the world needs. At the same time, few young people aspire to become teachers. The result is a global shortage of over 44 million teachers, a crisis that puts the right to education at risk. This has prompted a global call to strengthen the profession.
This World Teachersโ€™ Day highlights the need to establish a more robust social dialogue with teachers everywhere. The 2024 celebrations will focus on "Valuing teacher voices: towards a new social contract for education". The theme underscores the urgency of engaging with teachers to address the challenges they face but, most importantly, to acknowledge and benefit from the expert knowledge and input they bring to education.
