China’s foreign ministry on Thursday voiced “strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition” to recent changes on the U.S. State Department’s website, accusing Washington of distorting facts and escalating tensions.

The updates emphasized trade deficits while removing references to cultural and environmental cooperation. The term “People’s Republic of China (PRC)” was also replaced with simply “China.”

Beijing criticized the move as an attempt to provoke competition. “Both sides should work together to promote stable, healthy, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations,” the foreign ministry stated.

Will Germany's far-right 'firewall' collapse entirely?

For decades, Germany prided itself on being the European exception – the country where the far right had no place in mainstream politics. While far-right parties gained power across the continent – Meloni leading Italy, Sweden’s hard-right bloc shaping government policy, Le Pen inching closer to the French presidency – Germany held firm. Its history made cooperation with the far right politically unthinkable.

But political taboos may not last forever. The far-right AfD is now Germany’s second-most popular party. Mainstream conservatives, once staunchly opposed to working with them, are shifting. The CDU just passed an anti-immigration motion with AfD support, and pressure is mounting to reconsider long-held red lines.

Supporters say this is just democracy at work. Critics warn that once the door opens to the far right, it never closes. Will Germany stick to its principles – or follow the rest of Europe into a new political reality?

China’s humanoid robot Tiangong has successfully climbed up a set of steep stairs in a park in Beijing, marking the first of its kind to manage such hikes in an outdoor environment, according to its developers at the National and Local Co-built Embodied AI Robotics Innovation Center.

Firefighters in Southern California have made progress containing the Mountain fire in Ventura County, which has destroyed 132 structures, mostly homes. As winds that initially fueled the flames eased on Friday, some residents were able to return and survey the damage.

Since starting Wednesday morning, the fire has burned about 83 sq km and is only 14% contained. Thousands remain under evacuation orders as 3,500 structures in neighborhoods, ranches, and farmland around Camarillo, roughly 50 miles from Los Angeles, remain threatened.

High fire danger prompted Red Flag Warnings earlier in the week. Some warnings expired Thursday night, with others in the mountains ending early Friday.

Israel has officially informed the UN it is severing ties with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the main agency providing aid to Palestinians in the Middle East, including Gaza.

Israel accuses UNRWA of failing to investigate its employees' involvement in the October 7 Hamas attacks.

In response, UNRWA warned that Israel’s decision could lead to a “collapse” of humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

Foreign Minister Israel Katz noted that only 13% of aid to Gaza currently passes through UNRWA, insisting that alternatives to the agency are possible.

Israel’s ban on UNRWA, passed by parliament on October 28, has faced international criticism.

The company tested a prototype of the Yunxing plane last Sunday and plans further engine trials in November. Space Transportation has also released an animated video of the concept model, with plans to launch a full-scale test flight in 2027.

With a projected speed of 5,000 km/h (3,000 mph), the plane could cut travel time between London and New York to just 1.5 hours, far surpassing Concorde’s record time of 2 hours and 53 minutes and the typical 8-hour journey on standard flights.
