Chinese aerospace firm Space Transportation recently conducted a successful test flight of its hypersonic commercial aircraft, which aims to reach speeds twice that of the supersonic Concorde.

The company tested a prototype of the Yunxing plane last Sunday and plans further engine trials in November. Space Transportation has also released an animated video of the concept model, with plans to launch a full-scale test flight in 2027.

With a projected speed of 5,000 km/h (3,000 mph), the plane could cut travel time between London and New York to just 1.5 hours, far surpassing Concordeโ€™s record time of 2 hours and 53 minutes and the typical 8-hour journey on standard flights.
