Ajahn Sujato left a career as a musician to become a Theravada Buddhist monk in 1994. He took higher ordination in Thailand and lived there for years before returning to Australia. He spent several years at Bodhinyana Monastery in Western Australia before founding Santi Forest Monastery in New South Wales in 2003. Ajahn Sujato co-founded SuttaCentral.net in 2005 to provide access to early Buddhist texts in their original language and make translations available in modern languages in the public domain. In 2019, he moved to Sydney to establish Lokanta Vihara.

Ajahn Sujato left a career as a musician to become a Theravada Buddhist monk in 1994. He took higher ordination in Thailand and lived there for years before returning to Australia. He spent several years at Bodhinyana Monastery in Western Australia before founding Santi Forest Monastery in New South Wales in 2003. Ajahn Sujato co-founded SuttaCentral.net in 2005 to provide access to early Buddhist texts in their original language and make translations available in modern languages in the public domain. In 2019, he moved to Sydney to establish Lokanta Vihara.

This morning Outdoor Meditation at Singapore Botanic Gardens led by Bhante Adhiratano ended with dedication of merits to Devas, late departed family & friends and All beings. As soon as Bhante chanted Anumodana Gatha, it started drizzling 🌦️ as if the Devas know that the session has ended. It was drizzling too 🌦️ when we arrived at the site this morning too but suddenly just stopped as soon as we start sitting 🥰🙏🪷

A wonderful super peaceful meditation early this Saturday morning with Bhante Adhiratano at Singapore Botanic Gardens! 🌻🌼 In spite of the monsoon surge, the weather remained clear and breezy cool while the gentle fragrance of the 🌲🌳🌱 wafted around us. It was a wonderful meditation 🧘🏻‍♀️🧘🏻🧘🏻‍♂️ morning filled with joy as we stayed in the present moment together with Bhante. Truly a morning to remember!🌼🌻

Bhante teaches us that everything is impermanent 🍂🍃 and knowing this, we will find peace in our hearts.🩷

Our Yin Yoga classes incorporate a more meditative approach to yoga. Calming and relaxing poses and stretches help us to connect with our bodies and be mindful of every movement. With regular practice, energy and equanimity will improve in the mind over time. Ms Deepa D’Souza is a certified yoga practitioner. She has a calming influence on the participants and her kindness and gentleness make for a soothing and relaxing experience, especially after a busy day at work. 𝐀𝐣𝐚𝐡𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐨 is the Abbot of Muttodaya Forest Monastery, Germany. Born in Germany, he was ordained in 1988 in the Wat Nong Pa Pong tradition of Ajahn Chah in North-east Thailand. He spent 7 years in various monasteries throughout Thailand practicing and studying with different meditataion teachers of the forest tradition. He then spent 13 years at Bodhinyana Monastery in Perth, Australia, during the last 5 years of which he was vice-abbot assisting Ajahn Brahm. Ajahn Cattamalo left Bodhinyana Monastery in 2008 for Germany to assist in the setting up of Muttodaya Forest Monastery.

"So, here we are, New Year again. New Year, old year - it's not something we naturally experience. It’s not some kind of perceivable change that takes place at midnight on the 31st of December. It's an idea, it's a concept. But this is our special gift, our superpower, as human beings, as we can create concepts. And if we're intelligent enough, wise enough, we can use those concepts for all kinds of benefits.

In this case, with an old year and New Year, the idea of something new - it's fresh - is an uplifting idea. We're not just caught in the flow of things. We can stop, take stock. Are there things in our life that are not really so wise, not really so wholesome and so helpful, or even getting on the level of toxic? Well, let's stop, let's do something about those things.

What are their causes and conditions? Where, where can we start to deal with things? If you look at major problems, you know, as like big clouds in your life, it’s overwhelming. But ask yourself, “What can I do right now?” New Year, first step; take small steps one at a time, and drip by drip, the water pot of goodness starts to fill.

And we can deal with problems because we, human beings, we're problem solvers. This is, we're good at this, if we want to be good at it. And all kinds of good things, I'm sure, in your life, in my life, seeing really good things, you think, yeah, one day I'm really going to get around to do that. And something is really good, and you never quite do, for one reason or another - so many excuses.

So you say, yeah, New Year, Start again. Let's see, this good thing that we want to do, we want to introduce into our lives, practically speaking - what are the first steps to take? What are the first baby steps to take? And get onto the path of a more happy and fulfilling life, and one which creates benefit for yourself and for your others.

So the world around us, we dwell on that too much - get anxious and depressed and stressed out. There's only so much we can do about that world, but where we do have real scope, or real opportunity, to make significant changes is in ourselves - in our actions, in our speech, in our mind.

So please consider using the Buddha's teachings as tools to abandon the unwholesome, develop the wholesome, purify the mind, create happiness and welfare for yourself and for others.

He is fluent in English, Pali and Sanskrit, and is skilled in teaching Buddhism and meditation to both novices and lay practitioners. Bhante also trains Bhikkunis ardently.

As the wanderer Vacchagotta approached the Buddha and questioned him about the accomplishment of the dispensation, the Buddha delivered this Discourse to point out how his Dispensation was fully accomplished, in all stages of persons in the holy life even while in the lay life. Buddha's dispensation is not only for monks and nuns. The whole teaching is for the fourfold Sangha without any discrimination. 👫

Ajahn Cattamalo is the Abbot of Muttodaya Forest Monastery, Germany. Born in Germany, he was ordained in 1988 in the Wat Nong Pa Pong tradition of Ajahn Chah in North-east Thailand. He spent 7 years in various monasteries throughout Thailand practicing and studying with different meditataion teachers of the forest tradition. He then spent 13 years at Bodhinyana Monastery in Perth, Australia, during the last 5 years of which he was vice-abbot assisting Ajahn Brahm. Ajahn Cattamalo left Bodhinyana Monastery in 2008 for Germany to assist in the setting up of Muttodaya Forest Monastery.

He is currently residing at Palelai Buddhist Temple, Singapore, and is the religious adviser to Buddhist Youth Network, Singapore Polytechnic Buddhist Society and Singapore Management University Dhamma Circle. He is a member of Inter-Religious Organisation, Singapore, and Harmony Circles Youth Steering Committee and sits on the board of Aranya Sangha Dana Fellowship. He is an immensely popular and personable teacher of the Dhamma and has conducted meditation classes and given Dhamma talks at many Buddhist organisations and societies.

𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧 is an author, teacher, and the founder and abbess of Sravasti Abbey, a pioneering Tibetan Buddhist training monastery for Western nuns and monks in the US. She graduated from UCLA and did graduate work in education at USC. Ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun in 1977, she has studied extensively with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tsenzhap Serkong Rinpoche, and other Tibetan lamas. She received full ordination as a bhikshuni in 1986.

Venerable Chodron teaches worldwide and is known for her warm, practical, and humorous explanations of how to apply Buddhist teachings in daily life. She is also involved in prison outreach and interfaith dialogue. She has published many books on Buddhist philosophy and meditation and is currently assisting His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the writing and publication of The Library of Wisdom and Compassion, a multi-volume series of teachings on the Buddhist path.

Sis Sylvia Bay has dedicated herself to the study and practice of the Buddha's teachings since 1992.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Buddhist Studies from the Buddhist & Pali University of Sri Lanka, and was a lecturer with her alma mater. She also has a Masters in International Public Policy from John Hopkins School of Advanced Studies.

In 1986, Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena founded the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) in Ladakh. For the past 33 years, Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena has tirelessly and selflessly worked to provide high-quality education and safe shelter for underprivileged children, compassionate healthcare for the sick and the needy, empowerment and literacy programmes for women folk and other socially disadvantaged groups, caring home for the aged and destitute, and many other humanitarian services. Today, MIMC is growing as one of the leading NGOs based in the Himalayan region.

Frank’s counselling experiences are in addiction, marital, parenting, anxiety and depression issues. Besides counselling, Frank conducts training for Brahm Centre staff and volunteers and lectures on mental health subjects, befriending skills and related topics like caregiving. He also gives public talks at Brahm Centre on happiness, well-being and parenting.

Bhante graduated from the University of Ruhuna (UOR) Sri Lanka with a B.A. in Buddhist Philosophy, and obtained his second B.A. degree in Buddhist Studies from the Buddhist College of Singapore (BCS). Bhante has also completed his M.A. in Buddhist Studies from the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU), as well as a Diploma course in Buddhist Counselling at the Dot Connection Growth Centre. He is currently teaching "Early Buddhism - Basic Doctrine" to Diploma students and "Buddhism and Modern Issues" to MA students in Mangala Vihara.

𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐕𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐡𝐢𝐤𝐤𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐢̄ 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢:
𝐁𝐡𝐢𝐤𝐤𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐢 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢, better known as Ayya Santini, was ordained by the late Bhikkhu Girirakkhito Mahathera as Maechi Santini in 1990. She went through many obstacles until she was fully ordained as a Theravadan Bhikkhuni. Ayya eventually formed the Sangha Bhikkhuni Theravada Indonesia and became its leader. She has also received many recognitions abroad, including the “Outstanding Women in Buddhism Awards 2007” by the United Nations. Ayya has been invited to speak in many countries and at various international forums.

Ayya Santini's activities encompass a wide range, including hosting Dhamma retreats for both children and adults, organising meditation retreats, and publishing Buddhist magazines for various age groups. She actively engages in social service, responding to areas affected by natural disasters, and has travelled to various countries to promote Dhamma preaching and support its development. 🌍

Notably, she played a crucial role in the revival and development of the International Theravāda Bhikkhunī Sangha. Her dedication extends to overseeing three monasteries and embracing modern methods, such as recording Dhamma talks for online distribution, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, Venerable Bhikkhunī Santini Mahatheri continues her tireless efforts towards self-cultivation and the propagation of the Dhamma. She maintains a rigorous schedule to balance her spiritual practice and outreach activities.
