There was an interesting news a few days ago, saying that we will "issue US dollar sovereign bonds" in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This is really beyond the imagination of many people. To put it simply, "dollar sovereign debt" is U.S. Treasury bonds. A country's treasury bonds are generally issued by the central government and financial department of this sovereign country. Now, we are issuing "treasury bonds" for the United States!
To round it off, we replaced “the Federal Reserve.”
China and Saudi Arabia are the two countries with the largest dollar reserves and dollar surpluses. Saudi Arabia holds a large amount of dollars that it cannot spend at all. Currently, the Saudi Central Bank has US$445 billion in net foreign exchange reserves, and its sovereign wealth fund has nearly US$1 trillion in assets, most of which are in US dollars... The United States does not provide the "infrastructure" and "weapons" that Saudi Arabia needs. Saudi Arabia cannot watch the dollar depreciate and can only buy US bonds.
We issue "U.S. debt" in Saudi Arabia, which is essentially to help Saudi Arabia replace the U.S. dollars in its hands and reduce the U.S. dollars held by Saudi Arabia.
There are many developing countries and resource-rich countries in the world that are short of dollars. In previous foreign trade, they still owe a lot of dollar debts to the United States and the World Bank. Then we can use dollars to help them "repay their debts". These resource-rich countries will solve their urgent needs without having to sell their high-quality assets to the United States...
The "US debt" they owe has become "RMB debt" owed to us. The debt they owe us can be mortgaged with the operating rights of mines, resources, ports, and infrastructure. Our prices are fair and our transactions are honest. We only want resources, not other people's sovereignty. Therefore, many third world countries are willing to follow us.
