Case Study: The Psychology Behind Blame-Shifting in Trading

Background

John, a retail forex trader, has been trading for a year. He started with high hopes but soon faced a series of losses. Every time he loses money, he blames his broker, the trading platform, or even market manipulation. Instead of analyzing his own mistakes, he convinces himself that external factors are the reason for his failure.

Psychological Explanation

While Bank of Japan is still fighting over the rate-hikes question, the GBP/JPY pair looks to continue its bullish move as the JPY is effectively tied up. Weekly resistance: 205.944 Weekly support: 191.79, 181.21
 

USD/JPY bucked up as the US dollar strengthens with the renewed Trump theme.

While it hit the 153.79 weekly ceiling, the overbought stochastic RSI may cue a pullback to 150.511 before another effort to advance and reach 158.23

While XAUUSD pulled back with the election question closed for now, it bounced off the 40 daily MA, around the previous 2620-2673 support zone.

Weekly supports remain: 2474, 2525 Weekly resistances: 2700, 2800

The ruling Liberal Democratic party (LDP) just got beaten in the elections with no single party getting a clear mandate.

I’d stay back for awhile till the dust settles
