Countable vs Uncountable Nouns
Many IELTS students make mistakes with countable and uncountable nouns.
✅ I need advice on improving my writing.
❌ I need an advice on improving my writing.
✅ She gave me some information about the test.
❌ She gave me an information about the test.
Rule:
• Some nouns, like advice, information, furniture, homework, are uncountable—they don’t take a/an or a plural -s.
• Use some, a piece of, a lot of instead: a piece of advice, a lot of information.
Using nouns correctly makes your writing more natural!
