Due to overwhelming demand and the lack of available medical treatment for Iraqis with certain conditions in the United Arab Emirates, we strongly suggest Iraqi applicants currently resident in Iraq who have their interview in Abu Dhabi schedule their medical exam in Iraq to avoid medical exam-related delays. The Embassy district in Abu Dhabi has lots of parking options. There are paid parking zones that are just a short walking distance from the U.S. Embassy. To avoid penalties, remember to purchase sufficient time for your parking. If you take a taxi or if a friend is dropping you off, avoid getting out of the vehicle directly in front of the Embassy. Stopping a vehicle, even temporarily, is prohibited in front of the U.S. Embassy.

It’s super exciting to be able to finally attend your visa interview, but you must resist that urge to take a selfie with the U.S. Embassy in the background - photography is strictly prohibited in the Embassy district in Abu Dhabi. DO NOT take photographs of the U.S. Embassy prior to entry or after you exit the facility. Violators will be apprehended by the Abu Dhabi Police.

No one likes crying babies in crowded waiting rooms! Did you know that any family members between the ages of 0 and 13 years old listed in your immigrant visa/diversity visa case DO NOT need to come to the interview? You must, however, bring the requested documents for ALL family members, even those that do not have to come to the embassy.

The temperature outside is hot and space inside the Abu Dhabi Consular Section’s waiting area is limited, so the best strategy to avoid long wait times outdoors is to arrive at your scheduled appointment time, NOT earlier. For example, if your interview is at 9:00 a.m., we advise that you DO NOT come to the embassy before that time. Here’s a tip: bring a water bottle - there is a water fountain in the consular section waiting area for refills.

Dear Applicants: for the Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Program, Entrant Status Check on the E-DV website is the ONLY means by which the Department of State notifies selectees of their selection. If you receive notification through the Electronic Diversity Visa website that you have been selected for further processing in the DV Program, you must successfully complete the steps outlined at travel.state.gov before a consular interview can be scheduled to determine if you will receive a visa. You should complete these steps as soon as possible.
The US Embassy in Abu Dhabi will begin interviewing DV applicants in April, and additional appointment times will be forthcoming in subsequent months. Please be patient and check Yatri for appointment availability and scheduling.

Dear applicants (of special note to Iranian applicants). Please be informed that the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi no longer accepts medical exams done in Turkey or Armenia. These were accepted temporarily due to inability of Iranian applicants to obtain visas for travel to the UAE. Travel from Iran to the UAE is now possible, and therefore, our embassy will only accept medical exams performed at our panel physicians in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Dear applicants, please be aware that as of 1 October 2021, all immigrant visa holders will be required to have a COVID-19 vaccine in order to pass the medical exam for receiving a visa. Anyone who took their medical exam on 1 October 2021 or after must meet this requirement. There are some exceptions to this which our panel physicians will assess.
