In times of war and peace, crises, and turmoil, the Republic of Yemen, represented by Yemen Post, has succeeded in continuing to provide its diverse postal and financial services. Today, we join the international community in celebrating World Post Day, as the International Telecommunication Union marks its 150th anniversary, dedicating this occasion to strengthening communication and empowering people around the world.
On this occasion, the Republic of Yemen reaffirms its commitment to advancing its postal and financial services to serve the community and enhance its connection with the world. Yemen Post is determinedly moving towards the digitization of postal services and electronic postal financial services and launching several strategic digital projects. Despite the challenges our country faces, Yemen Post strives to overcome obstacles to ensure that development efforts are not entirely halted.
This occasion places a responsibility on the international community to support Yemen's right to neutral postal and financial services. It urges the international community to exert pressure to end all forms of aggression and lift the blockade on land, sea, and air routes for postal services. Yemen should be viewed as an exceptional case deserving of support and serious attention. As a founding member of the Universal Postal Union since 1930, Yemen's historical and cultural depth is evident, necessitating greater international efforts to support Yemen in rebuilding its infrastructure, and providing advanced operational systems to restore what was destroyed by the conflict. Yemen Post aims to resume its pioneering role within the global postal network as part of the international postal community.
As Yemen Post celebrates World Post Day, it renews its call to the international community and postal unions and organizations, both regional and international, to support the Yemeni people and enable them to access the best and most advanced postal and humanitarian services. It also stresses the need to enhance Yemen’s infrastructure to support transformation in postal operations as a top priority that the international community should seriously consider on World Post Day. The international community is urged to meet its ethical and legal responsibilities to put an end to aggression and the blockade, compelling coalition countries to open all legitimate land, sea, and air routes for humanitarian and civilian communication services between Yemen and the world.
