There seems to be a line of thinking that more weapons should not be provided to Ukraine because of a misconception that there are not enough soldiers to receive and use the weapons.

Listening to Zelensky, this view is misguided. It is not the case presently that the Armed Forces of Ukraine is oversaturated with equipment. On the contrary, the Armed Forces of Ukraine can make very effective use of additional support to defend the free world against russia.

As Roman often tells us, the soldiers on the front lines are desperate for more equipment. Ukraine is a very large battlefield and the scale of russia's attack is very large. Larger than it is sometimes easy to imagine.

Ukraine does have martial law with conscription. There is training taking place of additional soldiers that are being drafted.

The number of soldiers currently being trained is not published publicly as that would benefit the enemy, but some observers suggest the capacity is in the region of 30.000 people at any one time going through a 1 - 2 month basic training.

That is an incredibly short period of training by any standards, but Ukraine is currently fighting for its survival and the enemy keeps coming. There is no option at this stage to wait for many months or years of training. That would require already trained soldiers arriving from other countries.

The debate is not about how many additional soldiers should be trained, but about the age when people should be called up.

Currently Zelensky argues that there is no need to move further down in the age groups, the need is more weapons and to provide the training for those who are already being called up.
