Parliamentary government & legislative Institutions in their modern cannotation owe their origin and growth to Indiaโ€™s British connection for two centuries.

It would be wrong to presume that the British Institutions as such were at any stage transplanted in India.

The Parliament of India and the parliamentary Institutions had an organic growth on the Indian soil.

They grew through mamy relentless struggle of freedom, establishment of free democratic institutions and successive doses of constitutional reforms.

Ambedkar was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Constitution of India, which was adopted on this day in 1949 and came into effect on January 26, 1950.

The purpose of a Constitution is not merely to create the organs of the State but to limit their authority, because if no limitation was imposed upon the authority of the organs, there will be complete tyranny and complete oppression.

The legislature may be free to frame any law; the executive may be free to take any decision; and the Supreme Court may be free to give any interpretation of the law.

India-Iran ties

The Chabahar port has been the driving force of the bilateral relationship in recent times.

India and Iran signed a 10-year contract for the operation of the port.

Chabahar port also provides easy and short access to Indiaโ€™s Kandla and Mumbai ports.

As it is located outside the Strait of Hormuz, it insulates Indiaโ€™s trade from any threat of closure of sea lanes due to conflicts in the Persian Gulf region.

The shift reflects Indiaโ€™s growing technological, defence and commercial ties to Israel.

Cooperation between the two countries has been deepening ever since Israel provided India with military help during the Kargil war against Pakistan in 1999.

The imbrication of its defence and intelligence networks with those in India serves as an important conduit for deepening Indiaโ€™s political alignment with the U.S., accelerating it to the point of a strategic relationship.
