During the BRICS Summit in Kazan, India's PM gifted a piece of India’s soul to Russia – the Sohrai Painting

What is Sohrai?
An indigenous mural art form from India's tribal heartlands. "Sohrai" originates from "soro" meaning "to drive with a stick" – a symbol of the ancient bond between humans & nature.

Ancient Origins
Dating back to the Meso-chalcolithic period (9000-5000 BC), Sohrai art even appears in the Isko rock shelter of Jharkhand. It's a treasure of cultural endurance

Nature-Inspired Motifs 🌳🐆
Sohrai's themes reflect the universe's natural elements – forests, rivers, and animals. It’s nature storytelling at its finest.

Art by Adivasi Women 👩🏽‍🎨
Crafted by tribal women using natural substances like charcoal & clay, Sohrai is a celebration of resilience and indigenous skill, passed down through generations

Distinctive & Recognized
Hailing from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand (with a GI tag to prove it!), this art is recognized for its vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and deeply symbolic motifs.
