Announcement to All UniAbuja CDL&CE Students: Clarification on NYSC Certificates and Caution Against Misinformation

It has become imperative to address these concerns being raised regarding NYSC Service for UniAbuja CDL&CE Gradiates and the differences between the various certificates issued by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

This announcement aims to douse any tension among students and provide clarity to prevent anyone from falling victim to misinformation or fraudulent individuals.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) issues three types of certificates to graduates (both full-time and part-time) of higher institutions in Nigeria or abroad. These certificates are:

1: NYSC Certificate of Discharge
2: Letter of Exemption Certificate
3: NYSC Letter of Exclusion Certificate

As a Nigerian graduate of a recognized University or Polytechnic, you are qualified to receive one of these national certificates.

Below is an outline of their differences:

=> NYSC Certificate of Discharge: This is issued to conventional (full-time) graduates under 30 years of age from recognized universities or polytechnics in Nigeria or abroad, after completing the one-year service program.

=> NYSC Certificate of Exemption: This is issued to graduates who cannot participate in the one-year service program due to specific reasons, such as:

■ Being over the age of 30 at the time of graduation.

■Serving in the armed forces or police for more than nine months.

■Being a staff member of certain national intelligence or security organizations.

■ Having been conferred with a national honor.

=> NYSC Letter of Exclusion: This is issued to all graduates of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and part-time programs. This in assumption of their readily-established productive engagement in society without requiring the one-year service period.

Important Note:

All three certificates are legally recognized and serve the same purpose.

There is no discrimination or limitation in their validity or use by any employer or organization.

All the certificates are obtainable after your successful graduation and he issuance of the Statement of Result.

We strongly urge all students to remain informed against individuals or groups spreading false information, giving fake promises or attempting to exploit you in any way. Some certificates got recalled for such acts recently.

For further clarifications, please contact the appropriate school authorities or visit the official NYSC website...
