Dear brothers and sisters-in-Christ,

In the weeks leading up to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day itself, our church can expect an increase in attendance of visitors and worshippers.

In light of the recent security incidents at St Joseph's Church (Bukit Timah), the Archdiocese Emergency Response Operations (AERO) and the Parish Emergency Preparedness Team (PEPT) at St Ignatius would like to remind all parishioners to:

(1) stay vigilant for safety concerns and
(2) be on the lookout for any suspicious behaviour during Mass and other activities.

If you have any safety concerns, 👀and/or spot suspicious behaviour in the church compound, please let the wardens/ministers or staff on duty know.

Some of you may ask why did God not protect Fr Christopher? Is God not all-powerful? Could He not have prevented this incident? If not, why should we pray to Him?

Terrible things happen because of sin and its consequences. Indeed, such events show us that society is declining in its moral values; there is no sense of right or wrong, even in a sacred space. This shows us there are many troubled, confused, and hurting people in the world. However, we know that at the end of the day, evil will not triumph.

Our faith tells us that love is stronger than hatred, life is stronger than death. Most of all, He shows us the way of compassion and forgiveness by walking with us in our suffering. Therefore, we must pray, not only for Fr Christopher, but for his assailant, and for peace in our country and our wounded world.

We thank God for protecting Fr Christopher. He is now recovering in the hospital. We ask for your continued prayers for him and his parish community.

LOURDES EXPERIENCE 2024 TICKETS

This December, the Order of Malta is bringing the "5th Lourdes Experience" to Singapore.

🗓 Saturday, 7 Dec 2024 | 2pm to 7pm
(Gates open at 12:30pm)
📍Singapore Indoor Stadium

The 5-hour event will replicate the usual activities and devotions at Lourdes, such as the Stations of the Cross, the Holy Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Blessing of the Sick and a Rosary Procession.

Parishioners who wish to attend the event, please register your interest at bit.ly/lourdesexperience24_stigs by Sunday, 03 November.

👉🏻 Tickets are FREE and required for entry 🎟
👉🏻 Limited to 2 tickets per person; fixed sitting (for Church of St Ignatius parishioners only)
👉🏻 Priority will be given to the elderly and parishioners with medical conditions

In case of an overwhelming response, the Parish Priest reserves the right to make the final decision for allocation of tickets.

OCTOBER MONTH OF THE ROSARY

🙏 Join us in praying the rosary together every Monday in October, starting tonight (7th October, Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary), after the 6pm Mass in the Main Church. Fr Stanley Goh SJ will guide our meditation as we pray the rosary. Fellowship and potluck to follow.

Let us pay heed to Pope Francis' call to pray for peace in the world and invoke the intercession of our Blessed Mother. Make a pledge to pray the rosary this month of October and be blessed.

🎥 There will also be a movie screening: "A Prayer of Miracles" on Friday, 11 October 7pm at the Main Church. All are welcome.

“In this dramatic hour of our history,” the Pope reminds us, “while the winds of war and the fires of violence continue to devastate entire peoples and nations,” we are called to put ourselves at the service of humanity.

Together, let us stand in solidarity with all who are suffering and pray fervently for peace, healing, and reconciliation.
