A man came to the king to ask for a job! So that person was asked about his ability.

He said-

I can tell about a person or an animal by looking at his face.

The king made him his special "incharge of the horse stable".

After a few days, the king asked him his opinion about his most expensive and favourite horse, he said..

The horse is not purebred.

The king was surprised,

He called the horseman from the forest and asked him. The horseman told the king that the horse is purebred, but its mother died as soon as it was born. So it drank the milk of a cow and grew up with it.

The king called his servant and asked him how he came to know that the horse was not purebred??

"He said- "When it eats grass, it eats with its head down like cows, whereas a purebred horse takes the grass in its mouth and raises its head."

The king was very happy with his ability. He sent food grains, ghee, chickens and many goats to the servant's house as a reward.

And now the servant was posted in the queen's palace.

After a few days, the king asked him his opinion about the queen.

He said, "Her manners are like a queen, but not a born queen."

The king was shocked. He called his mother-in-law.

The mother-in-law said...

"It is true that your father had asked for a marriage proposal from my husband when our daughter was born but our daughter died in 6 months. So, to stay close to your royal family, we made someone else's daughter our daughter."

The king again asked his servant, "How did you know?"
He said, "The queen's behaviour with servants is worse than that of uneducated people.
A noble person has a way of behaving with others, which the queen does not have.

The king was again pleased with his discerning eyes,
and again gave him a lot of grain and sheep as a reward.

The servant was posted in his court now!

Some time passed,

The king again called the servant, and asked about himself,

The servant said,
"If my life is safe, I will tell you."

The king promised, then the servant said, " You are not the son of the king"

The king got very angry but he had promised to spare his life. The king went straight to his mother's palace.
The mother said, "This is true. You are the son of a shepherd, we did not have children, so we adopted you and raised you."

The king called the servant and asked, "Tell me how did you find out about this?"

He said, "When kings reward someone, they reward them in the form of diamonds, pearls and jewels but you give sheep, goats, milk and ghee. This attitude cannot be of a king, but can only be of a shepherd's son."

The reality of a person is identified by his behaviour.

*The Joy of giving*

Katharine Hepburn, the renowned Hollywood actress, was perhaps the only person to have won four Oscar Awards and been nominated numerous times. However, she never attended the grand ceremony to receive her awards. Her firm belief was that the love and affection of her fans and the people who admired her cinema were the greatest rewards for her.

Katharine Hepburn came from a middle-class family and was raised in a simple manner. However, her parents instilled strong values in her from an early age. She recounted an incident:

"When I was a teenager, my father and I were standing in a queue to buy tickets for the circus. Only one family was between us and the ticket counter. This family left an indelible mark on me. They had eight children, all under 12 years old. Their clothes indicated they didn't have much money, but they were clean and well-maintained. The children were extremely disciplined, standing in pairs, holding hands behind their parents. They were excitedly discussing the clowns, animals, and performances they would see that night. It was evident, this was their first time at the circus, and it would be an unforgettable experience.

The parents stood proudly at the front, the mother holding her husband's hand and looking at him with admiration, as if saying, 'You're my hero.' The father smiled, delightedly to see his family happy. The lady at the ticket counter asked, 'How many tickets would you like to buy?' The man proudly replied, 'Eight for children and two for adults so that I can take my family to the circus.' The lady quoted the price, and the man's wife let go of his hand. His head dropped, and his lips trembled. He asked again, 'How much did you say?' The lady repeated the price. He didn't have enough money. How would he tell his eight children they couldn't go to the circus?

My father put his hand in his pocket, pulled out a $20 note, and dropped it on the ground. (We weren't rich either!) My father bent down, picked up the note, placed his hand on the man's shoulder, and said, 'Excuse me, sir, I think this fell out of your pocket.' The man understood what was happening, but he wasn't begging. He was grateful for the help in this difficult, heartbreaking, and embarrassing situation.

He looked straight into my father's eyes, took his hand in both of his, and with trembling lips and tears streaming down his face, said, 'Thank you, thank you, sir. This means the world to me and my family.' That night, my father and I returned home. The $20 my father had given away was the same amount we were going to use to buy our tickets. Although we didn't get to see the circus that night, the joy we felt was far greater than any circus performance.

Values:

That day, I learned about the power of giving. If you want to be larger than life, learn to give. The giver is always greater than the receiver. The relationship of love is not about what you expect to get – it's about what you're willing to give..
- Katharine Hepburn
