On 28 February Mercury will join the parade, and all seven planets (except Earth) will be visible in the sky.

- Betelgeuse is 1000 times (!) larger in diameter than our Sun!

- If it were located in place of our Sun, - Earth, Mars and Jupiter would have long been gone - the star would have completely swallowed them up.

- Scientists make predictions about the death of the star in the next 2-3 thousand years - at the peak of its explosion, which will last +- two months, the luminosity of Betelgeuse will exceed solar in (!) 1050 and more times - the death can be observed from Earth with the naked eye.

The rotation rates of the planets around their axis relative to the stars (sidereal days) ๐ŸŒ

Planets rotate because they were formed from moving material. Momentum must be conserved, so the planets acquired their own rotation.

The bigger the planet, the more material it took to create it. And the more material, the greater the rate of rotation. (Note the rotation rate of Jupiter, Saturn).

James Webb has discovered many supernovae in the early Universe โœจ

The scientists estimate that 10 times more supernovae have been identified than were previously known. Before the study, only a few such objects had been found in the early Universe with redshift values greater than Z=2, which corresponds to a Universe age of just 3.3 billion years. Now JWST has observed many supernovae that erupted when the Universe was less than 2 billion years old, including a previously known and spectroscopically confirmed supernova with Z=3.8, which is when the Universe is only 1.8 billion years old.

To detect supernovae, the team compared several images taken one year apart and looked for sources that disappeared or appeared. Such objects, whose brightness changes over time, are called transient objects. In total, the team found about 80 supernovae in a patch of sky the size of a grain of rice
